This place looks so common that you would never guess how eceptionnel it is. In fact everything takes place in your plate (and in your glass !). Service and decoration are simple and true, athomsphere is rather relax. But behind all this, in the kitchen, miracle is taking place. We had a wonderful meal, based on excellent products. Spaghetti with truffles are just fantastic, and generously served. The place to be in town.

Before we go to San Gimignano, we checked the Tripadvior, found this No.1 restaurant and made a reservation according to the previous comments (thanks!) When we arrived on 2:15, the kitchen was almost closed (2:30), but the restaurant was still full. It's a small restaurant, 15 tables ? the atmosphere was warm and cosy. Lorenzo was our waiter, he is really charming and instructive, just let us feel very welcomed. We ordered house wine, which is very good. Antipasti was Prociutto and other cold meats. ( The pig head meat is fabulous, far far better than what we had the night before in Siena ) Truffle on fried egg was great and generous. Then my husband had the Tagliata with Truffle , I the wild boar meat stew. Both very tender tasty and juicy! The presentation was gorgeous. After the meal we had the Tiramisu, now, THIS is the the BEST of what we had since we came to Italy (We order Tiramisu EVERY meal, because every restaurant just claimed that THEY had the best Tiramisu). Just try it and you will find out!
Not only the meal was perfect and above our expectation (You know sometimes the Tripadvisor's No.1 would be highly expected and finally failed) But the service was marvelous. Lorenze is great ! AND the price was so very reasonable comparing with Siena and Firenze. We will definitely come back! Thank you very much and please keep your quality!

Loved the food. Very reasonable prices.

We got there right when they opened for dinner at 7:30 and got a seat for two without reservations, but saw a lot of others without reservations turned away later. Would definitely recommend reservations.

We are often disappointed when visiting TripAdvisor #1 recommendations, but this was certainly the exception. We had a FABULOUS lunch at the restaurant in August, sitting on the terrace as requested when booking. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was excellent. The prices were reasonable.

Don't hesitate to go. Essential to make a reservation a few days prior, and give yourselves plenty of time (half an hour or more) to find parking if you go in the summer. In the end, we had to park illegally, but luckily didn't get a ticket or a tow...

My wife and I spent an overnight in San Gimignano recently and decided to try Cum Quibus, Tripadvisor’s #1-ranked restaurant in the town. We were absolutely blown away by the service, the quality of the food, and the casual ambience of this place. The food is Italian, but not traditional Italian. We both chose the Fennel Salami Mousse with pears, ricotta and honey as our antipasto, and were not disappointed. We were comp’ed with a small serving of their Cinghiale (wild boar) prosciutto with fresh black truffles shaved on top, and that was equally delicious. For our main dish, my wife had the Beef braised in a Brunello wine sauce with artichokes, and I chose their Tagliatelle with smoked goose breast, pistachios and black truffles. Both dishes were outstanding, although being a truffle freak I preferred mine, especially after our waiter, Lorenzo, stopped by not once, but twice, to grate extra fresh truffle onto my plate. The wine list was not extensive, but offered a good range of wines, and at Lorenzo’s suggestion we choose a 2008 Bolgheri, a wine we were not familiar with but loved, adding another Italian red to our growing list of favorites. By this time we were so mellowed out I forgot to write down what we had for dessert, but remember something wonderfully dark chocolate. We live a few months a year just north of Rome, so we are reasonably familiar with good and not so good Italian food and restaurants, and are especially careful not to take pot luck in our choice of restaurants in the more touristy areas—a designation for which San Gimignano certainly qualifies—as many will take advantage of the unsuspecting tourist by serving mediocre food at inflated prices. Cum Quibus is very much not one of those. Its food was fresh and from what we experienced, mostly local; the menu was imaginative and well executed; and the prices were very reasonable—especially given what you get in return. We will return to San Gimignano, not for the tourist attractions the town offers, but strictly to experience Cum Quibus again. This place would qualify for top ranking in much larger cities, perhaps even all of Italy.
