“Cool apartment in a hot city”

The first thing I noticed when booking this apartment (which i did based on TripAdvisor reviews), was the friendliness, efficiency and helpfulness of the owner, Ida. It was very reassuring knowing that Ida was on hand at the end of the phone or email to answer questions when travelling to a new city with family in tow.

This three bedroom apartment is spacious and cool. The wooden floors, cool white walls and, most importantly, efficient air-conditioning were just what we needed whilst visiting a very hot Pisa in late August. The apartment was very clean.

The views over the Piazza are lovely and there are two excellent restaurants and several cafes on the piazza. If you venture down the windy side streets (like Lucy Honeychurch without her Baedeker!) you'll find bakeries (fantastic), fruit stalls, mini-markets, and gorgeous entoteca and a handy hardware shop.

Because of all the good things on the doorstep, there is a little night-time liveliness, but we didn't really mind that. The apartment is minutes away from Piazza Dei Cavalieri, the Tower (which was fantastic to ascend) and a myriad of restaurants. It's also close to the Arno, the bridge to cross over to Corsa Italia with all its chic shops and cafes and of course, the railway station. The trains were well air-conditioned and efficient on our trips to Viareggio for the beach and the gorgeous town of Lucca.

A great spot for a sundowner is the rooftop bar at the Grand Duomo Hotel (splendid views of the top of the tower and the Tuscan rooftops). Another is the Royal Victoria Hotel on the river. It has old world, Grand Tour, Victorian charm (Lucy Honeychurch in A Room with a View springs to mind, again). The rooftop terrace is tranquil and sun kissed in the evenings. Don't forget to order your drinks in reception and don't eat all the pistachios before they arrive.

The apartment was such a delight to come home to after hours in the heat. Perfect for cooling off, re-grouping and venturing out again.

Thank you, Ida.

Dear Heide, for us it was a great honor to have you, David and your family as our guests. Thank you very much for your review and for the "poesia" with which you described your experience in Pisa and in my flat. We hope to have you again in Pisa and we wish you luck in your future. Bye. Ida

“Feel ripped off!!”
Reviewed August 1, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We booked this apartment as it had 3 bedrooms with the idea that we could choose the quietest bedrooms, as we knew apartment was next door to a busy restaurant and in a popular Piazza where people gathered late into the night. On arrival we found that only two beds had been made up?. We paid the full price of 838 euros for a 4 night stay at the apartment that slept 6 and it was never suggested that we get a discount as there is only 2 of us. Why the owner thinks she can decide for us which beds we slept in is beyond my comprehension and a blooming cheek. There was only towels enough for 2 left on the beds, when we could have done with some fresh ones during our stay and had certainly paid the price for that too. As it happens we were kept awake into the early hours on the first night and had to remake one of the other beds in a quieter room at 3 a.m. As a suggestion to any couple booking this apartment is to say there is 6 of you.

Dear Malcom, i'm really very surprised to read your review. Unfortuately i was not present at your check in but i sent you many messages (before your arrival and immediately after check-in) to make sure that everything was ok. You never told me, during the first 2 days, that you needed more towels or sheets. I would like to point out that it is not true that you payed for 6 . You payed for 2 in an apt that can sleep 6 . Price for 6 is different as an additional price is requested for any person. However, that was not the problem as i prepared beds for 3 (1 double bed and 1 single bed in a different room) and i would definitely provided more sheets and towels if you have asked me. During the morning of your third day of holiday i came in the apt and you told me about the problem of sheets. I offered you possibility to give you more towels and made up more beds and you told me there was no need! I woul like to remember you that you have also complained about my messages, messages with which I offered my availability for any need. Is the first time that my structure receives a review so poor (at the moment i have more than 60 reviews in different web sites with max rating) and i'm sure that even you could spend a more comfortable stay simply using "COMMUNICATION".

“Wonderful location and spectacular place”
Reviewed April 23, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Set in an 18th century historical building, this apartment has it all. Location is absolutely perfect. The owner was extremely helpful. The apartment was spotless and very tastefully decorated. Beds were the best we had in Italy. Located a 3 minute walk to the square. Steps from fabulous dining and a quick 5 minutes to the leaning tower. We felt safe and secure.
