I have made nine trips to Tuscany in the last twelve years and have always spent part of my stay at this hotel. The staff always remember me and are so friendly. The location is great with very nice breakfast.

We stayed here for 1 night. We'd flown in and wanted to "do Pisa" before starting our holiday properly in Tuscany. We booked a family room (1 double bed, 2 singles) and as we knew we wanted inexpensive and simply a place to rest our heads it did the job.
It wasn't luxury, but it wasn't awful. It didn't cost the earth in mid-August.
Friendly front desk, adequate breakfast, central location.

Considering this place wasn't expensive, we were pleasantly surprised when we turned up and saw our room. It was much nicer than we thought it was going to be and the photos of this little hotel don't do it justice. The room was clean (the bathroom was sparkling) and very nicely furnished. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were roadworks going on outside the hotel when we stayed but that didn't really bother us at all. The location was fantastic, just a 10-15 minute walk to the Leaning Tower. The surrounding streets were beautiful and we enjoyed just wandering around the area. The only downside is that we didn't stay longer. We loved it here!

Perhaps our expectations were too high, but they were dashed when our GPS announced as we parked in front of a torn up street and a wooden plank zig-zagging its way to the door, that we had reached our destination. Everything was very clean and serviceable, but the furnishings and decorations were not the best. Our room had a poorly drawn wall mural of a naked woman with a straw hat on the beach. Parking was terrible and we worried about the car all night, but they did put us on to a great family pizza restaurant that ended up being one of our favorite memories of Italy.

My husband and I spent 1 night in Pisa at the end of our 9 night visit to Italy - just enough to see the leaning tower and then jump on our plane (we had flown in to Venice, but left via Pisa).

We had a reservation at the Royal Victoria Hotel, but unfortunately that fell through (electrical problem in the room, apparently). They were kind enough to make us a reservation at nearby Leonardo Hotel instead. Just wanted to give you some background so you understand that this hotel was by no means our first choice.

Leonardo Hotel calls itself 3 stars but we didn't get that impression at all. There's nothing wrong with the place really, but there's nothing noteworthy about it either.

Our 3rd floor room was tiny. It did have a little balcony (too small for chairs even) that looked out onto a couple of rooftops... meh. The hotel is supposedly recently renovated but to us it felt pretty dated.

Breakfast was okay, nothing special but a decent offering.

A couple of pros: the shower was the biggest we had out of 5 different places in Italy (however, water temp fluctuated wildly and frequently); there is an elevator (which didn't matter much to us but might be important to others); and hotel is located within 5-10 minutes walking of the leaning tower and lots of restaurants.

If you are going in the very near future: there was a lot of construction/scaffolding around the hotel, and notes posted around the place on May 22 mentioned water outages to be expected on May 23 due to the construction. If you will be staying while this construction is going on, this is something you should know!

For 90 Euros per night, I feel we could have done much better (we were to have paid 100 Euros at Royal Victoria, which I believe was a much nicer hotel based on TA reviews).

Booked last minute and got quite a good deal, hotel location excellent.
The hotel is retro, and not in a good way, decor is tired and hotel smelt musty. Front desk service was non descript.
Hotel room was dark and rather depressing, not aided by finding several hairs on pillows and in bed.
Breakfast was usual basic continental fare.

This is the first hotel we found when exploring the central area, and at 70 euros matched our budget. Would echo other comments on this site - good location, clean, friendly, basic room, special artwork. The windows were doubtle glazed and hefty and kept out the alleyways noise. Had a quiet night, was surprised how many turned up for breakfast, which despite the slow toaster etc we really enjoyed. The only disadvantage i can say that it was a cool weekend in Pisa and I was really cold in the room. The shower didn't stay on constant temp either but overall it met our expectations fine.
