“They don't want tourists”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

First thing you see as you approch the old part of Pisa is a warning sign stating if caught buying counterfit merchandise you'll be fined 500 euro. One can't walk 25 yards without some street scum trying to sell fake Rolex or Gucci watch, but yet the cops just sit in their car doing nothing. If they're so worried about the conterfit problem get rid of the peddlers rather then threaten tourists. Of course nobody from the Pisa tourist office responded to my comments.

Dont waste your time or money. Pisa has nothing to offer except the tower. The Cathedral and the other building are empty. Nothing to look at at all.The pavements [ sidewalks ] are in shocking condition and you spend all your time watching where your putting your feet. Beware the cafe/restraunts in the tower area, they'll ' pad ' your bill by around 10 euro's. Street sellers are everywhere. Pisa is one gigantic ash tray. The population smoke like nowhere else I have ever seen, and simply throw the rest in the street!

If you must go, then go as a day trip. Dont stay there. Base your stay in Florence, its only 40 minutes on the train from Pisa and a world of difference. It wont take more that a couple of hours to see everything Pisa has to offer.

“great as usual”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

We use these buses in most places if available. excellent either if have limited time and to get an over view of city or in the true Hoho sense and do just that. This time we just did the circuit from near the tower as only had a few hours in Pisa - oh no thats not true - we got back on it after going up tower and walking round and doing botanical garden (dont-see reviews) to go back to near station where we had parked car and couldnt be bothered to walk in heat, so better value than I thought.
Music played between commentry gets a bit tiresome - especially as same as in Florence and Genova! but on way back to car just didnt use headphones!

“Campo dei Miracoli”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

I have been in Pisa two times. The first time i walked from the station to the "Campo dei Miracoli" and I was really dissapointed from the absence of aesthetic of the city. The second time I took the bus (I think L/M rosso or rossa). If you are in Pisa just to visit "Torre pedente" I think this is the best solution, the city has nothing special to see. It is easy to find the bus station from the train station, just walk towards the center of Pisa (starting from Pisa Centrale) and after 300m you have to turn left and you will see the bus stop. The bus ride is about 10-minute for 1.5 euros per person. Campo dei Miracoli is amazing and it is really necessary to see the tower from every different aspect. The place is of course very touristic and except of the monuments, everything else is really ugly and the general aesthetic of the place is really bad. Beware of the pickpockets, especially for small children, in the square as also on the buses and the train station. Enjoy the tower, but this is all.

“Unique and beautiful buildings but . . . . .”
Reviewed July 1, 2012 via mobile

We expected the usual tourist souvenir stalls etc. but these line the Field of Miracles and rather spoil the atmosphere of what is a unique and beautiful historic site. What we we did not expect is the horde of very pushy hawkers of fake designer watches and sunglasses etc. who fortunately do not appear to be permitted to operate in the area of the Dom and the Torre Pendante but who line the route from the nearest car park, commencing with some who pose as car park attendants and try to sell you (expired!) car park tickets - beware! There are ticket machines and parking charges are very reasonable at 60 cents per hour.
