Owner description: The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

You must visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa if simply to get a photograph of you standing next to it. Also, I recommend a guide to explain how it was built, why,and also the leaning of it and how it has been corrected, to some degree. I did not feel the need to go inside as there was a fee for that.

“Classic must do”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

It doesn't matter how many times you see this iconic building on tv or in pictures, seeing it 'in the flesh' is amazing. A must do.

“Loved it”
Reviewed July 23, 2014 via mobile

Took a taxi from the hotel to the tower and it was great. We didn't bother to go in as there was a bit of a line. There weren't a huge amount of people around either. Took loads of photos of the tower and duomo.

Then the rain came and it poured down for about 5 minutes. Everyone scrambled to find some shelter. Got quite wet but was nice and refreshing. Well worth going there, great photo opportunities, nice and clean and no peddlars around.

“A Sight to Behold”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

I've seen many pictures of the Tower but seeing it in person just takes your breath away. You really start to wonder how it can still stand. Everyone tries to take pictures of themselves or loved ones trying to 'hold' it up. Some are quite hilarious. do not miss if you are even close to Pisa. You won't regret it.

“Worth seeing”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

Visited the Tower last week. No need to book in advance. We bought our tickets directly from the on site ticket office, next available time slot was an hour later which gave us time to visit the Cathedral and the Ballistero. We had a wait time of 10 mins only. Cost 18 euro, 300 steps, you are allowed about 35 mins to get up to the top ,have a look around and get back down. The view at the top is hampered by the safety meshing so don't count on getting great photos. Worth the money, probably not but the experience was good.
