Owner description: The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

“Definitely climb the tower!”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

We took a tour that included a half-hour visit to the interior of the Leaning Tower, with a climb to the viewing area at the top. It was definitely worth it, and not too bad a climb (although the passage-way is narrow). We had folks in our group ranging from 18 to 65, and we all did fine (there are a lot of stairs, though!). The views from the top were amazing.

“Leaning tower of Pisa and other leaning buildings”
Reviewed July 24, 2013 via mobile

I really enjoyed walking up the leaning tower of Pisa. It is the bell tower to the cathedral. I didn't realize that other buildings also lean in Pisa. Just not as obvious. We booked the tour threw our ship. It was pricey but well worth the money. I gained a great deal of knowledge about the architecture of Pisa and history. Would highly recommend it.

“Overpriced Wonder of World”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Leaning Tower of Pisa - one among the 7 wonders of the world, is very much over priced, doesnt find it to be worth for 18 Euros entry ticket. With the same ticket, you can visit the Cathedral too. Would recommend to book it online, else be ready to wait for your time of Entry. I bought ticket from the office there on site and had to wait for 2.5 hours for my turn. Entry procedure is pretty simple - Show your ticket on time and proceed to tower. You have quiet a few steps to climb, but it is not tedious. View from the top is good .. You can see the whole surrounding area.Overall duration is 30 Minutes in tower( Includes climbing up and scrolling down)

Transport : From Pisa Centrale station, it is 25 minutes walk to the Leaning Tower. Else, Catch Lamrose bus departing opposite to the station takes you directly to the Leaning Tower. The ticket cost 1.10 Euro if you buy from the ticket selling shop in station, else will end up paying 1.50 Euro if you buy on Bus from driver. Also remember to validate your ticket on Yellow machine in bus. From the time of validating the ticket can be used upto 70 Minutes, which means if you are sure of returning back to the station within 70 Minutes, you will be able to use the same ticket.

Note: Backpackers are not allowed in the Tower. There is a left luggage room, where you can store your things for free. They accept luggage, exactly before 10 minutes of your entry time. Secured and good facility. Appreciated.

“Iconic and a worth the visit”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Visited with my family (wife and two kids, 6 and 8) in July 2013. It was one of the must-see items on my list during our trip it France and Italy.

We were all giddy the moment we saw the tower in person for the first time. Of course we know about the leaning tower, but to see it up close was a real thrill.

We didn't book our tickets in advance and feared we wouldn't be able to climb it that day. We arrived at the ticket office at around 9:30 am and surprisingly, there were lots of tickets available starting at 10:15 am. The earlier times were sold out.

My younger daughter unfortunately was too young to climb it (although she would've had no difficulty doing it). So my wife and daughter waited for our older daughter and I to climb up. First ,you can drop off your bag in a room beside the ticket office. Then walk over to the tower to line up for your timed admission. It was a relatively easy climb but you definitely can feel the lean as you climb.

The view from the top was great, although obscured with a metal fence. After 15 minutes we were instructed to started climbing back down.

Finally seeing the tower in person and getting to climb it was a real treat.

“worth a visit”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Obviously this is the reason most people will visit Pisa which is a shame as the rest of the town is very pretty too. But the tower is a great focal point. It is worth paying the 15 euro's or so to go to the top. Just be prepared for a very narrow steep and slightly clostrophobic staircase. All worth it for the view across Pisa and the Tuscan landscape though.
