“A happy return”
Reviewed September 8, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We stayed at Podere Costantino 4 years ago and always knew that we would return. This time we travelled as a family of 6 and had 2 apartments which was lovely as it gave us more space. Franco and Mara were superb hosts as before . Mara prepared a great meal for everybody and also made some lovely cakes for us . Franco brought us fresh figs and tomatoes and we had long conversations in half English and half Italian.... we had tried to learn a bit more Italian before arriving so that we could understand a bit more!
We did a few trips out to the sights but also enjoyed a much needed rest by the pool and on the terrace. It is a home from home and we will undoubtedly return. Thank you Franco and Mara from us all.

“A Magical Place in Tuscany”

This was our first time at Podere Costantino and we all look forward to visit this magical place again. The scenery is stunning, the apartment was very well equipped - a great place to re-charge really. The hosts, Mara and Franco, are truly wonderful people and make this place a true gem in the midst of Tuscany.

“"Fabulous!"”
Reviewed October 5, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Just returned from a fabulous week spent at Podere Costantino. Franco and Mara are excellent hosts and we were bowled over by their generous hospitality! The apartment, Aurora, was well equipped, very spacious, homely and had a lovely balcony, which we used for breakfast and evening drink.
The location was perfect for exploring Tuscany; Florence, Pisa, Siena and so much more. The scenery is breathtaking! I don't believe that we could have found anywhere better than this and at such a good price!
We would definitely recommend Podere Costantino to anyone wanting to have a memorable trip to Tuscany. You will need to hire a car though and some of those hair-pin bends can be a little bit scary, but it all adds to the fun!

“We could live here! Didn't want to come home!”
Reviewed August 2, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

This place casts a spell on you as soon as you arrive.
We have never had such a relaxing holiday! Saying that, the holiday can be as busy or as relaxed as you would like. There are many places within easy reach for day trips, Pisa, Florence, Volterra, Lucca, the list really is endless.
As it turned out we decided to opt for a relaxing stay, the setting of the apartments is so beautiful and restful that we felt happy spending most of our time here, popping out for half days here and there or to the local villages for supplies, cappuccino, gelato and meals, and to supermarkets to stock up on supplies.
The apartment (Alba) was ideal for us and our 3 children (aged 11, 8 and 3). There is a double bedroom and a second bedroom with twin beds. Our son slept on the sofa bed in the sitting area. Alba is a private ground floor apartment with a nice outside area, all perfectly safe for our 3 children.
There is a shared pool which has both shallow and deep ends, perfect. Most often we were the only family in the pool as visitors tend to explore the wider area for much of the day. There is also a boules area, ping pong table and swings, more than enough to keep our children very happy during our stay.
The hospitality of Franco, Mara and Francesco was superb. We arrived late on the Sunday evening (around 9.30pm) and were prepared a lovely Tuscan meal delivered to our apartment, such a warm welcome! The rest of the week we were happy to be left to our own devices, there was always someone on the property if we needed any help (which we never did) but we were left to our own privacy. On the Friday evening we were invited to join our hosts in the gardens for a beautifully prepared Tuscan meal and wine with other guests. Another highlight of our stay!
Practicalities! We flew into Pisa airport and collected a pre-arranged hire car (we used Maggiore but there are many to choose from). The process of collecting the car was quite straight forward, after collecting luggage you hop on the shuttle bus which takes a couple of minutes to take you to the car rental area to collect your car. It takes around 40 minutes to drive from the airport to the property, we used sat nav and had no problems locating the property.
I would certainly recommend hiring a car if planning on staying at this property as it is quite rural. We explored the nearby villages which gave us a real feel for Tuscan life - so friendly and bursting with character. There are many nice pizzerias, trattorias and restaurants around the neighbouring villages.
We also had 2 trips further afield - to Pisa (40mins) and to Lucca (1 hour 10 mins). We drove to both and experienced no problems with this, although we were apprehensive about doing driving in the cities. We hired bikes to cycle the walls of Lucca and highly recommend this activity, it is inexpensive, safe for children and great fun. We hired a 6 seater 'surrey' bike, another highlight of our trip.
Franco, Mara and Francesco are truly wonderful hosts and we WILL be back!

“Amazing holiday”

We stayed for two weeks in the Alba apartment with our two children (ages 6 and 4). The location was beautiful and the apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. The kids loved the pool and exploring the grounds. Mara and Franco were very welcoming and whilst they don't speak much English it doesn't seem to inhibit communication. Mara did a wonderful welcome dinner for all the families there which was delicious. The farmhouse is located roughly 1 hours drive from all the main places to visit in Tuscany so is perfect for exploring the area. There was so much to see and do that 2 weeks wasn't long enough. We would highly recommend staying at Podere Costantino and we will definitely be returning!!!

“Good location, friendly owners and familiy friendly :)”
Reviewed August 25, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Thank you for a nice stay and good hospitality! We travelled with our 15 month old son and this was a very nice place for him. Big garden with pool, swings, some outdoor toys and a friendly cat that he loved. The owners were very helpful if we had any questions, and they gave us a taste of their own home made wine. Also, on the last evening at the apartment, we were invited to a great dinner at the house :)

For our selves the place had a good location for daytrips to bigger towns around Tuscany. We also liked the possibility to visit some of the many vineyards around the area.
