Allegroitalia Pisa Tower Plaza

We had a pleasant stay in the Abitalia Tower Plaza. As we booked last minute we got a deal, so for our money we had very good value. The lobby is very beautiful, you can see the Leaning Tower above the trees from the rooms, the beds are comfortable and there was plenty of parking for our car.

I am not sure this is a 5 star hotel however. The door in our room was mis-hung and had gouged big tracks in the tiles (and did not open properly). The chrome fixtures in the bathroom had not been polished (ever) and there was half a bottle of "personal hygiene gel" on the bidet (is this normal?!) None of this fazed us in our stay but I would have thought that a super flash hotel would be more onto things like this - I can imagine a more discerning visitor being a bit put off by the lack of finesse.

In fact they will be , that you, our business , promoter, source of livelihood
Unfortunately, we read with regret the disappointment for the bottle of hygiene found " used" in the bathroom , we apologize , it must be the result of our absolute forgetfulness
We appreciate the comment about cleaning, defined good, in fact hygiene is a priority in Abitalia , the rooms are cleaned by a specialized staff , the housekeeper occurs every day the standard of cleaning , just to ensure maximum cleanliness .
A sample every day I take a room to see the cleaning. With regard to maintenance, will not have escaped his eye that we are operating in these days an ordinary and extraordinary maintenance to outdoor spaces , such as the balcony of his room , the terraces of the apartments , the pool

Having read previous reviews, we were expecting a mixed bag. How wrong could we be? From the moment we arrived to when we left the staff could not have been more helpful. The location was a fifteen minute walk from Pisa centre, but we didn't mind the interesting walk. The room was lovely, the food in the restaurant spectacular and the "Soup Of The Sea" just fantastic! Breakfast lovely with lots of choice. The only thing I would criticise is that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. This is a big loss although you can get a coffee at the bar if you wish. If that is corrected (and people would pay a slightly higher tariff to have it), this hotel would be perfect. Would definitely recommend the hotel anyway, we had a great time. Thanks Abitalia!

Stayed here for one night in November. I asked for a room with disabled facilities and a mini suite as I always find this easier with a wheelchair. We arrived and checked in - I was in my wheelchair. Got to the room and found the bathroom had no shower just a bath.

Couldn't change the room so in the morning I had no choice but to shower myself standing outside of the bath thus soaking the whole room and making it a death trap.

Other points - the lighting was so dim we could struggles to read anything.

The pluses - a surprisingly good in-house meal. Nice bar for drinks before. Fast checkin and out even if the room was inappropriate

Good evening Dear Guest
thanks for expressing his thoughts and sharing it with TripAdvisor travelers.
We accept the criticism and confrontation , we are always sorry for this and regardless of his opinion not really positive .
Only those who do not work can not make mistakes , everything can be improved , in every sphere and in every organization , so also we have still much to learn, as all the rest.
At the same time we believe instead that it is precisely in the service attentive to details , such as ours, the basic details in order to recognize the true luxury of a hotel.
Let us beg to differ on some points : the moment of his arrival all rooms for the disabled and equipped accordingly were taken, the reservation did not specify the need in question . So this explains the discomfort and the allocation of a room of the hotel although a higher category. The next day there was a room for persons with disabilities who are freed but you did not accept the change
As for the fact inherent enlightenment we apologize but we can not understand the criticism of each room is equipped with several light points, under tv, on tv, head of a bed , bedside table, under table, bed etc etc above the keyboard . In order to verify his complaint please indicate room number, exact period day of arrival and day of departure
It seems anomalous to receive a review after 6 months compared to his departure .....

Thank you.

I stayed at this hotel for a short break at the start of May. I got a decent deal on the price, so I can't complain about it that much, although I wouldn't have described it as a five star hotel. This was my first time staying in a five star hotel (I think) and it was no different from staying in a nice two/three star hotel.

The staff were friendly and spoke good English and provided us with a helpful map and directions to find our way into the centre. The hotel is not in the centre, it's about a 15 minute walk away, but the walk is not exactly pedestrian friendly. The hotel is situated just off a main road, but there isn't a pedestrian crossing and you can't see the traffic lights, so it's not the easiest to get across. Bizarrely in the evening there are men trying to sell flowers to people in cars, I have no idea why they would choose that location. Once you are across the road, there is a walk next to a field before you arrive at a subway that runs underneath train tracks, whilst the lady on reception said the subway was safe, I didn't want to walk through it at night so used taxis to get back to the hotel after eating. Taxis cost around €6-7, if you don't get ripped off...

The hallways are a little dark but very nice. The room was nice, but fairly standard with the exception of a little chaise lounge at the end of the beds (we had a twin room). The TV was quite big and modern, but whilst it had an internet function, I didn't understand how to type using the remote control... Our room had a view of the swimming pool, however the pool does not have water in the non-summer months, although the weather was probably reaching warm enough for people to have wanted to use it. The bathroom was very nice. The only thing the room was missing was tea/coffee facilities.

We booked breakfast which had a fairly large selection of the type of food you would expect of an Italian Continental breakfast: breads, hams, cheeses, croissants, cakes, etc. Overall, it was a nice enough hotel, just not what I would expect from a five star hotel.

Unfortunately we read some notes with regret but we would like to inform our responses :
Unfortunately we can not prevent some beggars begging and selling flowers , I remember that the semaphore is talking about is far from hotels, we have no right to do any jurisdiction
For hotels leave the lights dim in the corridors illuminating only the marking step and the number of the room is a clear choice because psychologically causes the client to respect and silence. This is an international hotel which also has several clients with jet lag
The TV does not have built-in Internet , a swimming pool as is also stated our case in two languages is seasonal. In Italy seasonal means June 15, 15 SEPTEMBER ... until we work out before the usual maintenance : filters , hot tub , etc. etc.
We do not have a kettle in the room because there is a bar with its service always open from 07 30 to 01 in the morning until 30 at night
We appreciate the comment about cleaning, defined good, in fact hygiene is a priority in Abitalia , the rooms are cleaned by a specialized staff , the housekeeper occurs every day the standard of cleaning , just to ensure maximum cleanliness .

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend in May

Location
The hotel is around a 20 minute (15 euro) taxi ride from the airport. It is a little outside of Pisa (15min walk to the tower and 25 to the river) but this means you get larger rooms and more facilities than staying in town. Pisa is accessed down quite a busy road and an underpass, but this receives so much traffic it didn't seem scary.

Arrival
We arrived at the hotel around 11pm and checked in quickly. We had asked (via the agent) for a non ground floor room - this hadn't been passed on to the hotel and we had been assigned a ground floor room. Despite lots of head shaking about them being full the gent on reception did manage to move us. We then asked where we could get dinner and was told to check with the bar if the resturant was open - it wasn't. There is no room service option, no partnership with a local delivery and of course the hotel is out of town, so we made do with a packet of crisps we had taken from the airline lounge for dinner - not ideal. It would be good to offer some service out of hours, even if it is paninis which can be easily toasted by the staff. If you are arriving late bring a snack for dinner.

Rooms
We had a room on the 2nd floor over looking the tower. The room was large with a balcony and a bathroom with 2 showers (I've heard of his and her sinks but not showers!). It was actually quite good as getting ready to go out was double as efficient! There is a small minibar which we used to store water and a safe so the basics are covered. The only real downside to the rooms was the bedding - when we first got in to bed I noticed that the pillow was stained and there was only 1 pillow each - both synthetic. I called housekeeping who didn't answer so called reception and the same guy who checked us in brought us up pillows - (I get the impression that it is skeleton staff at night and the same guys was on for breakfast the next morning). I did ask for feather pillows but these weren't available - it would be good to have an options. Other hint for visiting is bring buy spray - the hotel is out of town so more rural and the bugs really bite! The rooms were clean in the main (a couple of things that I suspect aren't easy to put right like a large stain on th headrest which looked link cleaning fluid had been used to try to remove and therefore discoloured). There is no clock in the room so bring one (power points aren't by the bed so you can't charge your mobile and use it as a clock).

Breakfast
On the first morning we had to leave the hotel before breakfast was served - the gent who checked us in arrranged an early breakfast for us - I was expecting a pastries and a coffee but instead a full breakfast selection was brought to us. This was lovely service. The rest of the time we had the buffet which was really good - don't overload on the savory as the pastries and cakes are Amasing!

Other facilities
The pool is currently closed for refurb, but looked really nice for the summer. We used the gym to shower on the last day which seemed for a small hotel quite well equipped. There were no towels which seemed odd and having reported in the morning ants in the gym shower in the evening when we were back they had been dealt with (were dead) but the bodies left in the shower...

Staff
Expect a mixed service reception from the staff. Some were brilliant as we asked for recommendations, directions, hotel info etc. Others not so helpful, it was a real mix which is a shame as the staff are the face of the hotel. If you want a taxi specify a local one or the hotel shuttle is called which is much more expensive.

Luggage
Just as a point to the point someone else made around luggage storage - ours too was left in the managers office. We also didn't get receipts and we weren't checked going in or out. We did have locks so mybe take locks if you aren't comfortable with this.

Overall
Mostly good, but just a couple of small improvements could make this an amazing hotel

General points about getting around etc (helpful hints not hotel related)
You can get to Florence in an hour by train. There is a central train station which is around a 15min taxi ride from the hotel (trains every 20mins) or a local station in walking distance with trains every hour. When you use trains you have to do a 2 stage process - buy the ticket then validate. When you buy the ticket they don't tell you about the validate bit and then try to fine you 40 euro on the train - a good extra revenue from tourists. There is a lot more to see in Florence and most trips go from there - we used Walkabout tours (Vespas) and Ciao tours (horse riding and wine tasting) and got great service from both. We also caught the train out to Viareggio from the local station (trains every 30 mins taking 11 mins) to go to the beach which was really nice (it is a private beach with bits owned by different businesses so you will have to pay to bath).

Necessary clarifications :
in the mini bar in room only keep drinks because we have a bar open all day , closes after 01 00 am to re open in the morning in conjunction with the breakfast service . You can then activate the service in-room pay or get off the bar even at different times of meals (lunch - dinner ) and eat cold dishes , toast, rolls, sandwiches , salads and other dishes. Room in the directory you have the necessary information in two languages .

I can assure you that cleanliness and hygiene is a priority in Abitalia , the rooms are cleaned by a specialized staff , the housekeeper occurs every day the standard of cleaning , just to ensure maximum cleanliness .

Luggage Storage: If we have a luggage room hotel , each bag is recorded and deliver a double label to the customer. I booked Abitalia Tower Plaza caused I wanted to pumper myself in the luxury of a 5 star resort.
I realized that it is a bit far from the center but I sacrificed central location to a better living.
I was mistaken. This place is not a 5 star luxury venue any more. I would rate it 3 stars honestly.
The design of the lobby and common areas resembles that it was a 5 star resort some years ago. Now the resort deserves some repairs and washing. Yes, the hotel heavily needs proper cleaning. It relates both too the rooms and the common areas. The bathroom equipment in my room looked like it has never been washed. It was all covered with calcium plaque. Some if the wall tiles were broken. There were many scratches, stains etc. So I would suggest the management to do immediate repairs. I asked the reception to change my room. However, the room which was offered was almost in the same bad statement as mine so I refused.
The breakfast is rather poor. Normal for a 3 star but not more.
I was surprised to see that instant juice drink is offered at breakfast. I have got more accustomed to natural juices at the hotels. I am not even suggesting a fresh squeezed juice that is offered at all gas stations in Italy but surprisingly is not offered at some "5 star resorts".
The staff are generally quite friendly and try to be helpful.
I forgot to mention that the hotel still have a high price level what makes it very overpriced for the services actually offered.

The hotel is a 15 minute walk on a busy road straight into Pisa which is fine. There is also a bus stop right outside that will take you to the central station for 2 euros. We then took the train to Florence for 7.90 euro one way for an hour. The hotel room was large, nice bathroom with a decent hairdryer & a safe. Breakfast was also nice with plenty of choice. Plenty of parking if you have a car. The only thing I would have liked is a more secure place to leave your suitcase. They go in the managers office but they don't give you any security tags/labelling. A taxi from the airport to the hotel is 20 euro. It's a nice hotel but it probably is a little too far out if you want to be in the centre.

We have 2 baggage one of which is located in my office , practical, comfortable and close to the reception. Usually, a receipt is issued to the customer at the time of the deposit and the same baggage receipt is withdrawn. Probably in his case we made a barb marginal .
