“Great Location and Smiles”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We could not believe how close this was to the Leaning Tower and how friendly everyone is there. Also, the biggest cactus in Tuscany lies in the backyard :)
The rooms are really nice with high, wood-beam ceilings and a beautiful view of the hills. We stayed in July so it was hot hot hot and we were sweating in the middle of the night- even with the windows open. Great price for the location and probably an ideal place to stay when it is cooler than 85 F or 30 C. There is a fan though.
The staff is so sweet. I just can't get over it. Sandra told us of a place to get a pedicure and a bra!

We stayed here in transit before heading into Tuscany. We arrived at 11pm and the manager was waiting with a friendly smile and welcomed us kindly. We left early and they held our bags whilst we had a quick look at the tower (only two mins walk away!)
Great value for money, close to leaning tower and very friendly

This is such a cute place and is located 2 minutes away from the Leaning Tower. Pisa is quite small anyway so you can get around on foot very quickly but if you want to have an somewhat authentic experience and wanna be close to the main attractions, this is the place for you. The receptionist lady was very sweet and she gave us good tips on where to go for dinner. The rooms were pretty basic and there is no breakfast included but it served our purpose well.

If you are in Pisa you should go eat at La Grotto Osteria - by far the best restaurant we came across with a really cosy and romantic feel.

I thought this little pensione was lovely. Great location and our room was big enough. The only problem we had were the cleaners literally roaring out side the doors every morning first thing! That was a constant and I went out one morning to tell them to please be quiet, there is no need for that! Pisa is a lovely town, and we got the train to Florence one day, it was only a nice short walk to the train station. We had no problems finding it as we got a taxi from the airport and back. This was fine apart from the driver taking the "scenic" route back to the airport, so it was twice the price. How and ever, this is nothing to do with the Helvetia. Staff were lovely and helpful and we preferred the overhead fan to air con. I would recommend.

If your GPS is like mine, good to about 15 feet, you will keep missing this hotel. The building is narrow and kept telling me I had arrived when I was in fact on the wrong side of the building and couldn't see the sign. All the maps in the world can't help you in Pisa. It is a no drive zone with pedestrians 5 thick on every road.
All that being said, the room was clean. The desk people are nice (but they can't help when you call lost from the gas station). You can get a parking permit for a few Euros and they registered the car so I didn't get fined for entering the no drive zone (several times due to being lost).
There wasn't much of a view but the courtyard/residential area meant that the room didn't suffer any city noise.
Best location and good prices.

This hotel was perfect for our break. We stayed three nights and had a great stay here. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and there was always someone available if we had any questions. Wifi available, great location very close to the Tower of Pisa and plenty of restaurants and sights nearby. Taxi from airport costs about 11 euros but the bus costs no more than 1.50 euros.

The stay was very good, with only 2 cons: no wifi in room (but the manager said he was switching supplier and getting broader band) and the stairs (which were only a problem because one of us was in crutches and we has 24kgs luggage), but the manager was so friendly and helpful that we passed over those two cons and enjoyed greatly our stay. The hotel is very well located and the room was clean and ample.
