We arrived at Il Campano late in the evening, having hunted it down on the recommendation of our bed and breakfast host.
We ordered a 'secondi' each: minted lamb chops with steamed vegetables and wild boar steaks with roasted vegetables. Both were tasty and plentiful. We also ordered a bottle of red to accompany the meal from the extensive wine list. Although it was one of the least expensive it was of very acceptable quality.
The service was efficient, if unexceptional and the overall experience good, without being particularly memorable.
We enjoyed our visit to Il Campano and felt the bill of 50 euros was reasonable for a meal of this quality in the centre of the city. But is it worth the rave reviews elsewhere? Maybe not, but you could do a lot worse.
