“Villa Perfection in Tuscany”
Reviewed July 19, 2018 for a stay in July 2018

This villa, along with the hostess Luisa, are perfection.
It is the most well appointed home - well all made that comment, and was equipped to entertain all 21 of us. Each couple or family had their own room and bathroom.
Each bed and bath setup was roomy, had excellent mattresses, pillows and bedding. There were hairdryers in each room, as well as toiletries and towels for all guests. The bedrooms were private enough to allow everyone to have their own space to retreat to, and close enough if need be (for families or kids hanging out). The rooms had fans, televisions, and seating as well. Some had refrigerators.
The middle floor had entertaining areas for both dining and social time as well as two more bedrooms. These rooms were also bright, light and full of enough comfortable seating.
The main kitchen was huge, and had prep areas, cooking utensils, coffee pots, and enough space for socialization while making meals. The dishwasher made cleanup easy for large groups. There is a wine frig, microwave, dishwasher, panini maker...and killer espresso coffee maker.
The bottom floor had not only enough space for everyone to be social with billiards or just lounging around, but also another kitchen that allowed us to keep snacks and drinks there for easy access by the pool. Another sink and dishwasher made for easy cleanup. Two (clothing) washing machines allowed us to keep on top of whatever washing of our own that was needed, and Luisa kindly provided enough pool towels for all guests.
The outside area was fantastic. A saltwater pool, lounging area, chaise lounges under the trees, hammocks, and covered dining area were all reasons that we spent most of our time outside enjoying the Tuscan sun.
Also included were enough bicycles (I believe around 11) and we purchased cheap pool floats at a nearby store. There are goats and dogs on the property, as well as berry trees and orchards - that provided a welcome snack from Luisa upon our arrival.
The property is gated, so each guest has a key fob to enter and exit.
To add to the perfection, there is an elevator that you can use for easy transport of luggage between floors - and a dumbwaiter that you can use to get your groceries from the first floor to the main kitchen.
We LOVED our stay here. Luisa lives on property, so any questions were quickly answered or addressed.
We also requested that she arrange for a dinner to be cooked for the group one night, so she arranged (for a reasonable fee) a HUGE and AMAZING dinner to be prepared by a local chef. It was delicious.
A few things to note - there is a COOP grocery very nearby (with a shop to the right that has pool toys/rafts and a variety of other random things), so you can easily get whatever groceries and wine you need. You should rent a car if you are staying here, as there are many wonderful places nearby (bring a car phone charger). Bring your own shopping bags/totes to Italy - they will come in handy.
We LOVED this home, I can't say enough about it, or recommend it more to you and your family. We would spend the days venturing around the small towns, the afternoons in the pool, and the evenings listening to music (bring your bluetooth speaker) sitting outside drinking wine. Yes, there is wi-fi, and it worked great. It's perfect for friend or family reunions and suitable for all ages.
Regarding sites nearby, Lucca is glorious - rent bikes to ride around the wall - and bring your own reusable water bottle for your days of sightseeing. Pisa was worth a quick visit, and we loved the small town of Montecantini Terme...I could go on and on, but just going to the villa and checking in (then checking out mentally) is worth the trip.

“Beautifully appointed villa easily fit our large family”
Reviewed July 18, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Our 23-member multi-generational family was thrilled with our stay at Villa Lanizzi Biospazio Lucca! There were enough beds for everyone, enough space to both stretch out and come together, hillside greenery views to enjoy the beautiful countryside, and all the amenities to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Luisa is a kind and helpful host. The house has air-conditioning, which worked great in 30 degree heat in July. The kitchen is very well-appointed--we especially enjoyed the cappuccino machine! The pool area is lovely and the outside dining area just perfect. Just a great rental all-around!

“Beautiful and Spacious Home With Many Amenities and Gracious Hospitality”
Reviewed June 19, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Villa Lanizzi is a wonderful home with every amenity and comfort. All 8 bedrooms have their own private bath with 2 bedrooms on the first level and 6 bedrooms on the second level. Each bedroom has a separate key, which allows guests to have more privacy. The house is completely renovated and most bedrooms have a separate sitting area and some have double vanities. The kitchen is well-equipped, including a high-end DeLonghi Coffeemaker, a commercial quality stove and a sizable refrigerator. There is an elevator, a changing room and separate bath for the swimming pool as well as a beautiful swimming pool with a lovely view. The lower level (below the bedrooms), which is open on 2 sides, includes the bathroom for the pool, the laundry, a large sitting and eating area, and a billiard room, as well as a smaller kitchen with additional storage. The grounds are all well-maintained and there is a beautiful patio where we had dinner for our extended family. The pool is beautiful and the pool area is well equipped. Numerous bikes are available for guest use and the proximity to the town of San Macario in Piano and Lucca itself made it convenient for touring the city, taking the train to Florence (about 15 minutes by car to the train station), driving to the countryside, the beaches and the Cinque Terre, and getting a flavor of local life.

Luisa Travani and her husband were wonderful and gracious hosts and could answer just about any question. Adrianna, the housekeeper, was also very nice and provided 2 hours of housekeeping service each day. Luisa also found an excellent cook for our family and facilitated communication with the cook. Luisa's husband speaks English very well and Luisa was very responsive to any online inquiry to the Rental Inbox. Luisa's recommendation for lunch at Hotel Carignano when we arrived, which is only a mile away, was much appreciated and we had dinner there another night as well. Every effort was made to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable, all very much appreciated.

Liked best: The house met every expectation. The pictures do not do it justice. The hosts were kind and gracious
Liked least: As is the Italian custom, the house does not have a clothes dryer but has numerous clothes drying racks as part of the Italian emphasis on energy efficiency.
