Our family of 4 including 2 teenagers loved our stay. We had 2 large rooms with private bathroom in the original building - decor was charming and like staying with your Italian grandmother. The people were really friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was amazing - we wished we had stayed longer than just one night.

We wasted way too much time for our overnight visit to the beautiful Lucca, searching for this B & B, trying to contact the owner who was not onsite, and walking to and from our room at La Torre 2, which was in a dark alley, not off the square as per the website.
The owner offered to drive us back to the station the next morning, but did not show up, leaving us to rush to catch our train. We were probably naive to think that he would, after we had already paid our 80 Euros for the night.
A fantastic dinner at Gino's ( just off Piazza Napoleone) was the highlight of the visit. Try 'cantucci e vin santo' , a Tuscan delight, if you get the chance.

We were promptly picked up at the tourist information office, taken to our car for our luggage then dropped off at "Torres 2" an annex (apparently they have grown to several sites.) We were dismayed to find that the bedside lamp had no light bulb, the shower no soap and no shampoo, the lock on the room door didnt seem to work, no glass for water, the toilet flushing was less than optimal etc. We were alone in the building. Using the post card size map given us we quickly became lost in the maze of streets and could not find Torres 1 which turned out to be some distance away. The next day complaining of the construction noise next door, we were moved to "Torres 1" which felt less isolated. "Free internet" is on a laptop available for 2 hrs in the morning. Breakfast was good and the location of Torres 1 is central and convenient. There is no lounge or on-site staff. If budget is of primary concern then this place is ok but really a memoral stay in this remarkable area deserves a better base.

I stayed at La Torre for 10 days. It was great. There are different locations so I was at La Torre 2 which is right in the middle of the action. My room was huge and the only issue was really the shared bathroom - which I'm not really a fan of.

The people were reallly lovely and breakfast was nice - cheese, rolls, eggs, ham... which is more than I've had at other places in Lucca (San Frediano).

La Torre is one of the cheapest places to stay inside the walls but it is great value for the money and Paulo is incredibly accommodating. At one time the place was fully booked and he allowed a couple to stay at his residence outside the walls since they needed accommodation. He also loaned them a car to use.

I recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation within the walls.. which is a great idea if you are heading to Lucca.

I stayed here for 50Euro per night last month.

The B&B is initially quite difficult to find if you don't know Lucca, so a taxi from the railway station (7 Euro) may be worthwhile. Once you get your bearings in relation to Via Fillungo, Lucca is quite easy to walk around.

The room was at La Torre 2 which is 5 minutes walk from La Torre 1 and is accessed by walking along via Streghi and via San Giorgio. It was really spacious and clean and was within walking distance of all the places of interest (Lucca is quite small). The only negative was the shared bathroom, in which the bath itself was rather worn.

Breakfast was served in La torre 1 from 8.30, by 2 very friendly and helpful Italian women, and was satisfying, if unexciting.

We stayed here for two nights in May of 2006, and were really pleasantly surprised, especially since we had only booked the room online one day before while we were still in Venice. We ended up staying at La Torre 2 (he has more than one location), which was still fine. The room was spacious and clean, and we shared a bathroom, although I never saw anyone else using it. The owner even picked us up from the train station, which is outside the walls and so a good 15-20 minute walk away. That was great, because I think trying to navigate our own way within all the fantastic twisting alleyways in Lucca to find the place the first time would have been difficult! The ride was a ball, he drove about fifty miles an hour down the cobbled, narrowest streets I've ever seen, and he certainly knew what he was doing.

I would definitely stay here again- even though it's a little further down from La Torre 1, it's still really central, and you can walk to La Torre 1 for breakfast in about five minutes.

The only real downside was the shower in the shared bathroom- there wasn't a shower curtain so water went everywhere. Just bring flip-flops or something.

And, if you're looking for a fantastic place to eat right around the corner, try the Vecchia Trattoria Buralli on the Piazza San Agostino- absolutely the best food we had the entire trip!
