My husband and 3 boys (9, 14, 15) had never been near a horse but this was a fantastic way to spend time in the tuscan countryside and an original activity to please everyone!
The communication with Rosi was excellent and the horses knew exactly what et were doing. This isn't just a sedate pootle along roads- there are some off road bits too but is tailored to each party. We saw the olive harvest up close and enjoyed learning loads about the area from our guide Laura.
Although the ranch is pretty far off the beaten track, the directions given are very accurate and comprehensive- we got there with no trouble.
The horses were carefully chosen according to the height/ weight/ experience of each of us and the children provided with body armour as well.
We took a 1 hr trek, which was probably wise for our first experience but would love to do a full day next time.

Thank you Rosi and Laura

As we are not big wine enthusiasts we opted to spend a day horseback riding through Tuscany instead of visiting a vineyard. Management are fluent in English and the guides are capable of communicating necessary information in English. We set off at 930am and rode through the hills, vineyards and in to the bush. The horses are well trained and a rider does not need much prior experience to enjoy a day trek. We stopped for lunch at a brilliant ristorante which is nestled away back in the trails. Ended back at the ranch around 6pm, overall was an amazing and unforgettable experience with the best views of Tuscany. Highly recommend :)

This is an excellent place to ride horses in Lucca. Even before we arrived, Rosi was a great communicator via email and answered our many questions. When we arrived Rosi and Laura were very welcoming and greeted us with excellent English. They have all the necessary safety equipment and were adept and matching a rider's experience level to just the right horse (beautiful horses by the way). Our family of four with two teens opted for the 1 hour ride, and it including riding on roads and fields. The views of the Lucca area were fantastic. We were especially impressed with how the horses remained calm when walking on the roads and encountering cars and bicycle riders (we rode on a Sunday morning). We would definitely ride with Rosi and Laura again, but for an even longer time!

Our American family of three recently spent 4 days in Lucca, Italy, and the highlight by far was a 2-hour trail ride hosted by Rosi, Adrianno, and Laura of Lucca Horseriding. The scenery was incredibly beautiful--we traveled through woods, vineyards, quiet back roads and fields, always with the panoramic Tuscan scenery in view.

Rosi and Laura are excellent and expert guides. We have relatively little experience with horseback riding, but it was at the top of our 17-year-old's list of things to do in Tuscany, and we were thrilled by their company. My husband and I have ridden horses a dozen or so times in our lives, but we learned the most and enjoyed ourselves the most by far with this group. Unlike many horseriding outfits in which the horses, overridden on the same trails over and over again, simply follow the horse in front of them, Lucca Horseriding gives riders an opportunity to actually ride and direct the horses. Rosi and Laura chose the route for our ride as we were riding--it was far from a rote experience.

Afterward, Laura's father, friends and ranch hands were kind enough to share their lunch with us on the big tables under the trees. Laura and her father built the ranch by hand over a ten-year period, and Rosi works with them to operate their business.

Rosi is fluent in English, Italian and German (and maybe more?). Because we had arrived in Lucca by train, she and Adrianno picked us up in Lucca and transported us to the ranch for a small fee.

We discovered Lucca Horseriding through a recommendation via TripAdvisor. Their website is luccahorseriding.com.
