A wonderful 13c mosaic of the Ascension welcomes you to this church filled wtih wonderful treasures. Subtly lit with some unusual painted columns. Well worth a visit as are all Lucca's churches.

Worth a visit to see the tomb of St Zita and fresco on the front of the church. Not open when services taking place

The facade of the church is a spectacular mosaic that shines in the sunlight. But at night, its appearance is completely different - quite lovely. We went to mass at the church since it was very close to our hotel and were surprised that it was well attended (we have not experienced that in other parts of Italy).

Big, quiet holy place. delightful frescoes. Somehow not for tourists unless the are willing quietly to contemplate the infinite, or at least the life of a saint who is still there in body and spirit.
