We stayed in Lucca for a few days. Based on TA reviews we thought to try one of the recommended restaurants. Without reservation it's not easy to have table at the first few TA well rated restaurants. This why we could only try Da Pasquale on our last evening. Unfortunately.. This place was maybe the best among our Italian roundtrip!
Watch out: the restaurant is open from 19.30, so prepare like that!
We could only have table inside, but it was a good situation for us, as the interieur inside was really cosy. The manager (maybe Pasquale?) recommended us a good white wine - we wanted to have a fruity, dry wine -, and with the 19 EUR price, I think we had a really good choice. He told us that he serves up good wines, which prices are above average at the shops too, but as he's not working with high margin, it is reasonable - I agree.
Food is excellent, you can see and feel that there is care and devotion from the chef at every meal. Beside that, the manager focusing on good materials to process - to highlight the olive oil, which has 140 international awards and directly purchased from Sicily. So they don't offer food from supermarket, and that you feel in the flavours too!
What Í can absolutely recommend: beef carpaccio (WOW, what a meal!!!), pastas, and steak (Angus), dessert was perfect too.
I would say it is a very good value for your money, for 2-2 courses, bottle of wine (+ red to the steak), waters, dessert, we paid around 70 EURs. That amount we left at other places too, but the dimension is really different.
Mr Pasquale, please keep on doing this good quality, nice hospitality, you provided us an unforgettable evening!
