My wife and I visited Lucca during our recent trip to Tuscany, Italy. The hotel had been recommended to us. It did not disappoint. The first advantage that the hotel had was a parking facility . ( Parking can be an issue in Italian 'Old Town's'). The hotel is a family owned property and we noticed the difference straight away. The welcome was friendly and inviting. We were shown to our room in the main building and it was modern with all the conveniences. It was quiet, restful and peaceful. Breakfast was the best we had on our trip. Fresh bread juices, meats cheeses and loads of freshly made coffee and tea.. The hotel is ideally located and just a stone's throw from the Cathedral, Theatre shopping, restaurants etc. The owners have twom other properties adjacent to the main hotel and although we did not visit them I am sure they are of a similar quality to San Martino.
Lucca is a magnificent old walled town and has lots of attractions for tourists including a year round Puccini festival held in Chiesa San Giovanni.
I would have no hesitation in staying here again.
