“Worth the climb”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

Th first half of the climb is up a staircase and the rest up steps and balconies fixed within the walls. At least one fairly fit 85 year old managed it without particular difficulty. Great views from the top.

“Fantastic views”

It's well worth the climb to see the views of Lucca and the surrounding mountains. Reasonable entrance fee.

“Worth the climb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

One hundred and ninety steps to the top. The top stairs being quite narrow , so not for excessively large people or those suffering vertigo.
If you make the climb its worth the effort . There are trees on the roof and of course a fine view too.

“Fun and Easy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

This is definitely a must-do in Lucca. The panoramic view of the town and surrounding countryside are incredible. Large planter-boxes containing the famous trees, which allegedly were previously used to plant vegetables, provide a glimpse into the resourcefulness of the Lucchesi during the middle ages. It was slightly crowded at the top when were there, so one had to be a little patient in waiting to take photos from all directions, though most visitors understood that others were waiting and the progress around was fairly quick. My brother, who suffers from vertigo, was unable to make it to the top, so he spent quite a bit of time looking at the medieval-style paintings displayed on the interior of the tower and pointed out numerous interesting features as we made our way back down the tower. Fun and easy.

“The second thing to do in Lucca, after cycling the walls”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014 via mobile

Not expensive, €3 for students and €4 for adults. The climb (easy after the Leaning Tower!) was straightforward and so wonderful at the top. A great way to orientate yourself in Lucca as you have fantastic views from the top. Highly recommended.
