What is it about tourism and the need to climb towers to get a better view. I think it is the stairs that attract. Work hard and you get the prize. In this case a 360 degree panorama of Lucca and the surrounding rolling hills of Tuscany. For an added bit of amusement, there are some trees growing on the top; a great novelty that.it worked for me. I am a sucker for trees growing where it is just not the norm. Come to think of it, every building should have them; what a novel way for reforestation.

About two hundred steps to a great view of Lucca.Try to go later in the day for softer light and better photos

Worth the climb for the excellent view of the city. Highly recommend doing this activity. One of the best views of the town.

Great views over Lucca from the top of this important historic tower complete with trees at the top (apparently planted so that it could claim to be the highest building in Lucca!). Many stairs and therefore not recommended for the vertiginous!

Great view and interesting climb to the top. A bit spoilt by the obvious scam where the money taker claims he has no change....despite the folks in front paying with coins. Take change!
