Description: Antica Locanda Di Sesto is a restaurant located on the right side of the Serchio River,in the outskirts of Lucca. The Building dates back to the 1368, as the marble stone in front of the restaurant says, a period when the local merchants started to build their own country estates, used to relax and chill out in the summer but also to gain business profits. From the XIV Century the village of Sesto was property of the "De Nobili" Family and they had, according to various rumors, 101 farmers working only for them in the village. It is thanks to this powerful family that the "Locanda" was built, and even now you can see the remains of the old building inside the restaurant. *We now offer a free shuttle service from Lucca town centre*

Our best restaurant in the area. we choosed the seasonal menu with wild muschrooms in pasta as appetizer and the Angus beef slices as main course. Everything was perfect including the house wines. A great place to recommend.

Wonderful Tuscan dinner. Our group of 20 enjoyed a fabulous dinner consisting of canapes, steak, veal, pumpkin ravioli ( to die for), mushrooms and lots of wine. The desserts were the best. We had one of everything. Figs and tiramisu were the best. Very family friendly.

I eat there ten/fifteen times a year and I never regret going there. Steaks are their specialty but all their dishes are prepared with great care. The traditional cuisine of Lucca is the base of the menu, but, particularly during the Summer, they try making other dishes, built with fantasy and experience, that are worth tasting. In the right season, experience a Tuscan "fritto" - mixed battered vegetables fried in olive oil. Its fragrancy and lightness will impress you. Following the title I emphasize that the wine (served in the fiascos), oil, meat and all the possibile ingredients come from the farms around the restaurant, one of which is owned by the family. The atmosphere is friendly; the restaurant is clean, airy, filled with appetizing aromas. Good appetite.

In the Hills of Lucca - Anitca Locanda Di Sesto

Just about 8 kilometers outside of town in a place called Sesto Di Moriano there is a hidden gem next to the better known restaurant La Mora and this restaurant is called Antica Locanda Di Sesto. It appears as though the place has been there since 1300 and with the quality of food and the attention to flavorful detailing it may last just as many going forward. The dining room opens off a small entrance way and expands into a high ceilinged double room. It has a warm feeling about the place that's enhanced by the attentive staff. A staff consisting of the chef himself Aurielio, a seasoned waitress and young waiters. They recommended a great bottle of wine and from there things just went way over the top. Bruschetta on great dark wheat bread and then some spaghetti with black truffles that stole the show and beat every other place that served it by a country mile. Me I had to have the pasta piselli and that was the best I ever had of this peasant dish my mom used to make. After that I dared have the baby goat while others went game also and had a beautiful rabbit stew and the rest of the party feasted on fish in a bag and cod fish divinely done. We were then invited to try their special biscotti and vin santo which had to be made there. They have an extensive menu and all the food including the cuts of meat, whether prepared Florentine style or not looked like they could satiate the most critical palate. The place is an outright winner and the guests were from the little town itself, Germany and our group from New Zealand and New York. What topped off the night is when the chef informed me that he was going to open or be a consulting chef in a restaurant about to open in November on Madison and 63rd, in the Big Apple. If he can pull off a small fraction of his back home magic, I'll be regular for sure and already plan to take the girlfriend there for her birthday on November 8th. If you go to the Medieval city of Lucca don't miss Antica Locanda Di Sesto because you will miss a great dinning experience.
