“Friendly family run hotel which really aims to please.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for a night on a recent cycling holiday. We found the family very helpful and keen to make our stay enjoyable. The hotel is not very modern but offered everything we needed. The room was comfortable and peaceful
but not super smart. The friendliness and helpfulness...especially guidance re safe cycling routes was very much appreciated. Would happily stay again.

Myself and my husband stayed in this lovely family run hotel in May for 3 nights. It was hard to find on foot from the train station and not great with cases so would suggest jumping in a taxi. The hotel is traditional Italian style and our room was on the 2nd floor which was spotless and so peaceful. Giovanni couldn’t have been any more helpful, friendly and accommodating and gave us all the information we needed for our stay recommending local restaurants, places to visit within Lucca and further afield. The hotel is situated Just a 5-10 minute stroll to the wall of Lucca and town centre which was perfect and very beautiful (we spent a full day there and every evening). We highly recommend this hotel and thank you to Giovanni and his family.

Room Tip: 2nd floor was very peaceful

Very nice family run hotel. The staff is very accommodating. The whole place is very reasonably priced (we paid around 65 euro in April 2014). They have breakfast available for a small charge, but we did not have it. That was a big factor in deciding to stay at a hotel close, but outside the walls. Free wi-fi.

Located about a 10 minute walk inside the walls, or a quick bike ride. They have bikes & locks to let you use, complimentary. Small, outdated rooms, but very clean and well maintained. We were in room 11, and you could hear what was going on in the hotel (I am a light sleeper) so I would recommend going up a flight. Overall, we were satisfied & we would stay there again.

Room Tip: *get a room on the highest floor available- floor 1 you can hear a lot of noise from the restaurant...

I and my wife spent a long weekend in Lucca at the beginning of March,
We decided to stay at this hotel and it was a great choice. Location is great, walking distance from lot of good and cheap restaurants. You can reach the medieval city wall in only few minutes walking and we could enjoy a comfortable, quite and clean room!
Breakfast is by far above average in comparison to other two stars hotels in Italy.
This family run hotel was a fantastic choice for our weekend. The entire family was really helpful in giving great advices about the city of Lucca and its surroundings.
One of the best places in terms of value for money, we will come back during our next trip in Lucca.

Arrivederci :)

This was the second time I stayed at Hotel Melecchi. Their hotel is the best place to stay in Lucca. It is just outside the walls to the east and very close to everything. The family that owns the hotel is very kind and makes you feel like you are part of their family. They are very personable, funny, friendly and helpful. BRAVO Hotel Melecchi! I can't wait to return to Lucca so I can see the family who owns the Hotel Melecchi again!

I stayed at Hotel Melecchi for three weeks this October. Giovanni and his family took perfect care of me! They offered me the use of a bicycle every day and served me delightful breakfast. After three weeks I felt like they were my new friends. I look forward to going back next year and would recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay in Lucca!

We had a problem with the air conditioner that really made a part of the stay unpleasant but Giovanni and his father were sooooo great that we wanted to overlook the negative. Beware that the shower (at least in our room) is really tiny but that too was only a small set back. The breakfast is lovely, the time and attention they gave us with suggestions and directions was outstanding and the location to the wall is very good.

Giovanni should teach at a hospitality school!
