Visited La Casa del Prosciutto in the mid 1980s as a student and really enjoyed the ham, pasta and steak. In September 2012 tripping down memory lane we took our teenage daughters there and they and we enjoyed a simple but fantastic meal and at very reasoanbale cost. Did not have enough room for steak but tried the carpaccio of beef which was excellent.
Overall an unpretnetious place with good food and service.

It is always heartening when places live up to your wonder and enjoyment some 25 years later.
Recommended without hesitation for those that want and appreciate a taste of real Italy. And hoping to get back there much, much sooner than before! :)

We stayed at thisrestaurant that is located halfway between Fiesole and Borgo San lorenzo.L 'impact was not much of the best people and little organization, in fact we were made to waitdespite reservations for about 20 minutes ...... the food was average, the dishes not treated for comcluderethe large bill because they charged decrypts Fiorentina steak from them but had not FILET!!

If you don't eat meat like me, don't let the name of this restaurant put you off; there's plenty else to eat and it's wonderful.

Starters are a little more restrictive than the prima and secondi courses, but I had a toast with tomato mixture very similar to bruschetti followed on, the first night, by a wonderful home made gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce and a plate of spinach on the side while the other half had the most enormous Florentine steak known to man.

We ate here two nights as not only was it so close to where we were staying at Poggio al Sole, but the ambience, service and food was great fun.

I have been going here since 1977, and have never been disappointed. After an 11-year gap in visits, the owners still remembered us. Highlights: Crostini, tagliatelli ai funghi, gnocchi alla gorgonzola, bistecca fiorentina, and bliss-inducing meringata. Reservations are a good idea, especially on Sundays.
