Description: Thank you for your interest in Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina. We are a cozy wine shop and wine bar located in Piazza Pitti just across from the Pitti Palace. Our mission is to select the very best territorial, cultural and traditional wines produced in Tuscany and in Italy. Focusing on small production, high-end wines that are difficult to find anywhere else. Our options by the glass strongly represent this very specific selection. Our goal is to inform our clients of the wines and wine making process of Italy. We have a limited but quite special food selection prepared daily by our chef. We offer an a la carte menu featuring Tuscan appetizers, cheeses, charcuterie and hand made first courses. Still, our dishes are designed to compliment your experience with our wines. We are not a restaurant with a full dining menu. Our kitchen is open from 1:00pm to 3:30 pm then again from 7:30 to 10:30. We are closed on Tuesdays. For reservations please let us know what date, time, name, how many people and what type of reservation you are interested in making; an a la carte lunch or dinner, a reservation for The Wine Club Tasting, Dinner With An Owner or The Wine Tasting Lunch. We are closed On Tuesdays all day. We thank you so much for expressing your interest in us and we do very much hope to get to see you at Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina soon!

“Still Awesome”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

We had been to Florence four years ago and discovered this wine bar. We enjoyed it so much, we went there three times that week. On our return to Florence, we planned to visit here again. We dropped in after touring the Pitti Palace, which is just across the street and had some great wine and my wife sampled a flight of champagne. We then made a reservation for dinner and came back a couple of days later. The food was wonderful and Zeno, one of the owners, paired our food with some great local Italian wines. Best meal that we had while in Italy. Go for the wine or the wine and food, you won't be disappointed!

“Best little cantina ever!”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

We had one night in Florence before going to the countryside and we, as we had been to Florence many times before, decided to try a different experience for dinner. I found the Pitti Gola Enoteca and Cantina on Trip Advisor and was so glad! This is a very small place - about 20 seats - so you must make a reservation if you want to have dinner as well as wine taste. We saw many people turned away. From the outside it just looks like another tourist wine bar as it is directly across from the Pitti Palace but don't let that fool you. The owners are 3 young men who are passionate about wine and want to share their enthusiasm with everyone who enters. The have a talented chef who makes magic in a small space and keeps to a limited menu that complements the wines.

Our good fortune that night was to have Zino attend to us, and once he realized we had some knowledge of wine and got a feel for our preferences, he "went off script" and shared tastes from some of his favorite small producers of Italy. In the end, we not only bought wine to ship home, but just had to have a couple of their bold, etched wine glasses to take with us. Managed to get them all the way home without breakage!

If, when in Florence, you don't have the need to go to a fancy, popular restaurant and/or just want a good wine tasting experience, be sure to go to Pitta Gola. It was a highlight for us.

“Very good range of wines with some lovely food”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

Lovely little Enoteca opposite the Pitti Palace. Has a nice old world feel to it but a very modern take on approaching wine and food.

We had the "flight" which was a tasting of 4 local wines, all very interesting and a nice progression in styles ending up with a 2004 Brunello which was delicious.

The food rather than taking a back seat to the wine starred in its own right.

Service was knowledgable without conceit.

“Best Place for Vino!”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

This place came recommended to us by some friends, and although we were unable to get dinner reservations since they were full, we were able to taste some amazing wine. The owner, Zeno, was very friendly and was a wealth of knowledge about wine. We tasted some delicious wines and were very sad not to be able to eat there!

“Not Convinced”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

Prior contact was very good, and they went to great trouble to explain that this was a wine shop with food, rather than a restaurant. Just what we wanted !
Four of us had the tasting lunch last Saturday. The weather was lovely, so we were able to sit directly outside and enjoy the sunshine.
The venue and service was very good.
We have tasted wine all over the world, and particularly love Italian wines. Judging by the reviews here, we expected a very pleasant experience.
We tried 4 different wines pared to the lunch courses. Unfortunately we were more impressed with the food (which was very nice) than we were with the wines. None of us were particularly struck with any of the choices.
Regardless, I thought I would buy a couple of bottles of different wines to take back to our apartment for later. At a budget of 20 euros a bottle, I asked our host to suggest what I could buy. It was a real struggle ! The venue has plenty of wine for sale, but the prices are particularly high, running into the hundreds. He struggled to find anything at the price range I wanted.
Having driven round Tuscany vineyards just last September buying wine, I was most surprised. We found nice wines in that price range quite easily.
We had a good afternoon, but I'm afraid we've come away thinking this is just a venue for tourists.
