The Four Seasons Hotel in Florence is dazzling in its grandeur. The hotel is located a short walk from many of the “must see” sites in Florence, on an enormous property in a quiet neighborhood. The Hotel grounds themselves are worth a visit - it’s like a perfectly manicured park, complete with winding paths, art and statutes.

The Hotel is situated in what was once a 16th century Medici palace (or that is what we were told). Each public room is filled with art and beautiful antique furniture. I generally prefer modern hotels, but it’s hard not to enjoy this sort of opulence.

The room was large and very nice with all of the expected features (large flat screen tv, Illi coffee pot, plenty of plugs and chargers, incredibly comfortable mattress, marble filled bathroom, etc.). But there are two things that make this Hotel really stand out for me:

1. First rate service. The staff were incredible. It seemed as if everyone not only knew our names, but knew our itineraries, health, dietary restrictions, length of stay, departure time and on and on.

2. Health club. Fitness on vacation is a priority, and the health club/fitness center at this property is better than any I’ve seen at a hotel. A several level structure: the bottom floor contains locker rooms (with steam room and sauna - they even have a special ice machine to use to cool yourself); the main floor contains treadmills, stationary bikes, and other cardio equipment, half a dozen machines, and a separate stretching room with a variety of cables, straps, balls and mats; the top level contains two sets of dumbbells, benches, another couple machines - including one for squats and bench press. And then there are amenities throughout like different kinds of water, chilled towels, fresh fruit and coffee maker. Unfortunately my description does not do it justice. Oh, and there’s an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, and a spa for treatments.

Our stay was fantastic and it was very hard to leave.

We were lucky to stay here with friends earlier in the year
Wow, what a stunning hotel, with the most beautiful grounds in the heart of Florence.
We only had one night and I wish we could have stayed for longer.
We had a fabulous lunch in the grounds. The location is easily accessible to allow for a walk around the truly beautiful Florence.

We have had the chance to spend few days over the festive season in the Four seasons in Florence. Having had the opportunity to stay in numerous luxury hotels, it has to be said that this Four Seasons ranks amongst the best ever. The building is ideally located, it is maintained in perfect condition, rooms, lobby, restaurant and the bar. The staff is attentive to details and makes everything possible to make your stay unique. A particular mention to the concierge desk, which proves to be one of the best I have ever been able to be in touch with. When it comes to food, Il Palagio deserves its Michelin star, and its cuisine is excellent. Needless to say, the breakfsast buffet is fantastic and answers the most difficult client need. Rooms are great and in perfect conditions, bathroom are huge and nicely decorated. No really negative comments to add, unless probably the seating at the bar, which misses the cosiness one one would expect of such a place. Nevertheless, two thumbs up and five star ranking for this fantastic place that we will without a doubt visit again in during spring time.

Room tip: Ask for a room overlooking the garden
