This is a great hotel, we were very pleased, walking distance from a lot of things you will want to see. The location was excellent. The staff is exceptionally nice. The breakfast was very good, too....

A short walk from Il Duomo and the river, a refreshing oasis with beautiful gardens, pool and great spa.

The concierge was excellent, from a last minute car rental to a courtyard table at Enoteca Pinchiorri

Room Tip: There are few rooms with terraces, but if you can get one it is worth it

The hotel is located on a gorgeous property, approximately a ten minute walk to the main piazza. There is a shuttle that drops off and picks up at the Four Seasons time share property just behind the main piazza in town, which is very convenient.
Our large room was located in the conventino, which was lovely. It was a one - two minute walk to the main building, but there was usually a golf cart ready to drive you there and back! The room itself was immaculate with all the usual accoutrements you would expect from this hotel chain. Spacious bathroom with separate bath, shower and toilet room. Immaculately clean and soft, fresh linens on the bed.
The patio where the breakfast was served each morning was beautiful. We sat outside every morning and thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent and peaceful gardens. One qualm we had was the bees were very attracted to the flowers and a few mornings we had quite a problem keeping them away from our food!

Unfortunately, we did have multiple problems at the property.
-Upon arrival at the hotel via taxi (from the train station) we were told that visitors that didn't have reservations at the hotel were not allowed to look around. I was taken aback as we most certainly had reservations. The implication being that we didn't look like we belonged there. This left a very poor first impression. If you are staying here, be sure to wear your Sunday best upon arrival for a proper greeting!!
- We arrived at the stated location for shuttle pick up and waited. It never arrived. The bell man argued with us that it did not pick up at the stated time. We went and got a copy of the schedule and showed him that it was supposed to be there. When he called the driver, he told us that the driver was fifteen minutes away. After we had been waiting for over ten minutes. He asked did we want to wait? We didn't want to wait another fifteen minutes, so we took a cab into town, which cost us almost twenty euros.
- The "children's amenity" never arrived in our room (was supposed to be there on arrival).
- We went to a restaurant down the street for dinner one night (a ten minute walk). We asked if it would be safe to walk back to the hotel after dark and were assured it would be. However we were followed the entire way by an unsavory gentleman that had my daughter in tears of fright. The man followed us right into the lobby. Which leads me to the next point...
- The streets around the hotel are dark, and somewhat deserted at night. So be aware of this when walking back to the hotel
- The hotel is quite a walk from the heart of the city. We were aware of this, but thought we'd rely on the shuttle. That was a mistake as the schedule for the shuttle was not strictly followed, leading to many, many, long waits.

On the positive side:
- The hotel has a really nice outdoor pool, which was enjoyed a few times during our stay
- The food from the restaurants on site was excellent
- The spa was one of the best I've ever been to. The treatments were of a very high caliber, and the relaxation area afterwards was so welcoming and comfortable you never wanted to leave
- The rooms were large, immaculate, and well laid out. Beds were amazingly comfortable. The view from our conventino room (of the gardens) was lovely.

Would we stay here again? I'm not sure. It would depend which was more important: location or amenities. If location were more important, then we would stay in town. If amenities, then we would return.

Room Tip: Conventino rooms have lovely views of the garden, but are a short walk to the main area of the hotel...

Dear Guest,

First of all let me thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed feedback following your stay at Four Seasons Hotel Firenze.

I am afraid to read that your experience did met the desired expectations. Nevertheless though, I would like to specify that the street where the hotel is located is considered a neighborhood area, very quite, safe, not isolated and close to the main city's attractions.

This is why we are very surprised to read about the security issue in your comment.

Thank you for staying with us.

Best regards,

Claudia Porrello

We stayed here last July , part of our European tour.
The hotel and its architecture are amazing.the gardens are just so beautiful for walks and tranquility.
The pool staff were great , making sure everyone was well taken care of.on our last day, the weather got cloudy and eventually it rained all afternoon, the staff took great care of us and made sure they had alternatives to our plans because of the rain.
Great place and very romantic

Luxurious Italian style to the highest order, we loved this hotel. Location wise, it's a bit of a stroll to the central highlights but a nice walk on flat, cobbled streets. The advantage of being that little bit outside the centre is the extra space throughout the complex, gardens through the middle of the courtyard give a suburban park feel. The dining options are excellent and the gym is fabulous. The whole thing is marshalled by incredibly helpful staff. A Four Season beauty.

Dear Guest,

Let me express all my gratitude for your kind words.

The Gherardesca Gardens are undoubtedly the most precious treasure of our urban resort we are proud to run: intimate, private and, as you highlighted, an oasis of peace and tranquility where feeling pampered and looked after by our attentive staff.

Looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future I send you my best regards,

We've stayed there several times in the last three years - twice as a couple, twice with the kids and for a celebration. Each time we were truly fascinated by the property, the service and the dining options. Some of the rooms keep authentic frescoes, some are modern and spacey. All are extremely comfortable, clean and quiet. The garden is a real sanctuary in the heart of the stony Florence. The spa and pool area is in a separate building and offer excellent treatments. Highly recommended bar and restaurant!
