We went there twice on our 4 day trip! The first time, we only wanted to get take-out pizza, but were immediately greeted by a very friendly pizza baker, who told us something about the restaurant and its history. We paid 5 Euros for a pizza that was quite large by Florentine standards, and decided to revisit the following day for dinner.
It turned out that their service, as well as their wine was very good, the pizza was a little more expensive, but still reasonably priced at 7-9 Euros, and we also got free Limoncello after the main course. Also, there was no additional charge for seating. The only reason why we don't rate the restaurant as excellent is the fact that the atmosphere was not super "Italian". The waitresses and the pizza guy were super friendly, they knew what they were doing, but they also knew they were running a business. This was demonstrated by them offering bread to all the Italian guests, but not to us, a thing which seems pretty common among restaurants in Florence. However, the mere size of the pizza more than made up for this, and we weren't too big on having bread anyways.
All in all, we would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys an excellent pizza and a good wine at a reasonable price.

After a month of travelling in Italy we were tired of pizza and spaghetti, plus very high prices. We were surprised to find Gusto Leo right in the heart of Florence's tourist area with a very extensive menu and very good prices. I had the homemade ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta with a meat and tomato sauce for 9.70 Euros and my friend had the special for 12 Euros that came with tasty bruschetta, veal with a tomato and olive sauce and a small mixed salad. Pretty good value, friendly and efficient staff. Not fancy, but for road weary tourists it was a breath of fresh air. Huge menu and we saw one of the giant calzones go by. Wow. Also the salads looked great. The first restaurant that didn't add the offensive "cover charge".

Thankfully we only ordered one to share for lunch any way but this very filling Calzone freshly cooked was a fantatic example of Italian cuisine. Service was excellent too, the only down was the queue for the ladies as there was only one facility.
