Fun Times In Firenze!

Easy to get to Florence from the airport by tram at €1.50. Buy your ticket at the station then validate it in the tram. No one told us that!! Amazing city with lots to do. We had fabulous weather and ate in some lovely restaurants. Our hotel was amazing. Excellent service. Friendly staff. Great chicken with attention to detail. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a hotel which has it all I would recommend Garibaldi Blu. The location is within easy walking distance of the Duomo, Mercantile Centrale, the train station and everything else Florence has to offer. But more importantly the hotel staff is by far the best I have ever encountered. They will help you with finding the perfect dinner spot, recommending tours, showing you exactly where to find the tram. Filipe, who I believe is the manager, is in a category all his own. His help and thoughtfulness made our visit one we will never forget. Even being right on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella the hotel has a quiet feel. It is beautifully decorated.

Room tip: Upgrade to a room facing the piazza

Just 5 minutes from the Florence train station and right on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, the Garibaldi Blu could hardly have a better location. We had excellent service from the front desk and cleaning staff and Massimo at the bar is a treasure. The front desk staff was a great help in securing tickets to the Galleria dell'Accademia and the Uffizi Gallery. Our room was wonderful (on the Garibaldi vs the Rosso 23 side), and was duly watched over by a cadre of superheroes for some delightfully strange reason. Good breakfast with lots of choices and very good cappuccino. Only downside: Small shower. But that seems to be par for the course in Italy. Would stay here again.

One of the most interesting aspect of the hotel (apart from strategic position) is the sense of privacy driven by the quiet and silenced atmosphere of the shared parts (lobby, breakfast room, etc); moreover the courtesy of the peoole at the reception and the super-kindess of Mr. Massimo the bar tender make the structure an hidden gem in one of the most stunning place of Florence (ask for a superior room with a view to SMN church)

We chose this hotel due to its location and as it looked recently renovated.
The location is perfect, right in Piazza Santa Maria Novella and a few meters away from the train station.
Breakfast is good enough.

But in our case the good things stop there and it was one of our worst stays, mainly because we had paid for something else and felt mistreated. The lobby looks fresh with nice design, but this hotel merges with another, the "Rosso 23" and you could be given a room in it instead of Garibaldi Blu, as happened in our case.
Rosso 23 is an old hotel. Our room on the first floor had a nice view of the square, but the window frames are old and everything is heard from outside and not protected from the cold. You can not stand beside the windows without a jacket in the dust.
The double room room was separated by a wall of plasterboard from ours and you could hear the water flowing through the pipes when they were showering.
In the morning around 7am the staff brought carts in the corridor and every sound came from the door. If you are requesting sound insulation, this is definitely the most wrong choice. In our last morning a truck did work just below our room from 6 am, making a lot of noise for at least half an hour.
I do not know how things are at Garibaldi Blu, but if I went back, I would definitely check in which hotel the room was given. Please note that as checked online, the rooms at Rosso 23 are 10% -20% cheaper.
