One of the most interesting aspect of the hotel (apart from strategic position) is the sense of privacy driven by the quiet and silenced atmosphere of the shared parts (lobby, breakfast room, etc); moreover the courtesy of the peoole at the reception and the super-kindess of Mr. Massimo the bar tender make the structure an hidden gem in one of the most stunning place of Florence (ask for a superior room with a view to SMN church)

We chose this hotel due to its location and as it looked recently renovated.
The location is perfect, right in Piazza Santa Maria Novella and a few meters away from the train station.
Breakfast is good enough.

But in our case the good things stop there and it was one of our worst stays, mainly because we had paid for something else and felt mistreated. The lobby looks fresh with nice design, but this hotel merges with another, the "Rosso 23" and you could be given a room in it instead of Garibaldi Blu, as happened in our case.
Rosso 23 is an old hotel. Our room on the first floor had a nice view of the square, but the window frames are old and everything is heard from outside and not protected from the cold. You can not stand beside the windows without a jacket in the dust.
The double room room was separated by a wall of plasterboard from ours and you could hear the water flowing through the pipes when they were showering.
In the morning around 7am the staff brought carts in the corridor and every sound came from the door. If you are requesting sound insulation, this is definitely the most wrong choice. In our last morning a truck did work just below our room from 6 am, making a lot of noise for at least half an hour.
I do not know how things are at Garibaldi Blu, but if I went back, I would definitely check in which hotel the room was given. Please note that as checked online, the rooms at Rosso 23 are 10% -20% cheaper.

Only a 5 minute walk from the train. Great location in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. Lots going on in the area but hotel is very quiet. Rooms clean and nicely designed. Had drinks in the lobby, the bartender was a very pleasant man who loved suggesting stores and restaurants for us. His suggestions were perfect. It was a short stay but a very pleasant one. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area.

Stayed at the Hotel Garibaldi Blu from 11/20-11/23 and had a wonderful experience. The location is amazing and walkable to the main sites in Florence. The breakfast (included in your stay) was excellent. We also really enjoyed chatting with Massimo, the bartender! Would highly recommend having a drink at the hotel before you head out to dinner (or after dinner). Also - the hotel's restaurant recommendations were great!

Only negative thing was that our shower was quite small, but that seemed to be a norm in the various hotels we stayed in in Italy. Also, it seemed like the Hotel Garibaldi Blu and Hotel Rosso 23 are really one hotel, and while we booked through Garibaldi Blu, our room was on the Rosso side.

We recently stayed for our second time at this hotel - located perfectly in the centre of Florence. It's ideal for a good base if you want to walk around Florence. We drove to the hotel which is quite tricky due to the narrow streets, one way systems and you actually drive out onto the square to access the hotel.
The staff are friendly at best - no real interaction to be honest. Our room was I believe and older room, that seemed to be located under or between two staircases. We could hear some movement, but the biggest issue was the aircon. Its vent was located in the window sill so as far away as possible from the bed, and when the curtains were closed there was no air coming into the room. We did call down and in fairness a fan was sent up immediately.
The breakfast is fine - buffet style in a courtyard between two buildings. Nothing exciting, but good. The staff there were friendly and chirpy.
All in all it's a relatively modern hotel, the location being the primary asset. It was our second time to stay and when we return next I think we'll try something different for the price paid.
