“'Perche No!' Ice-Cream, the best promenade in my life”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

Each one of us has a perfect promenade. I will tell you mine: let’s start from Piazza del Duomo in Florence (the History!), let’s walk slowly through Via dei Calzaiuoli (the Shops!), let’s stop at ‘Perche No?’ (the Ice-Cream!) and walk for the final leg of the promenade toward Piazza della Signoria (the Perfection!). Let’s sit underneath the fantastic Loggia dell’Orcagna savoring the best ice-cream on the planet admiring at the same time one of the most beautiful ‘piazze’ in the world…I believe that the famous ‘Syndrome of Stendhal’ originated in the same way…
When stopping at sublime Perche No! I suggest two possible strategies. 1) The fruit flavoured ice-cream (gelato alla frutta): ask for advice from the multilingual staff about the best flavours of the day. 2) The ‘Semifreddo Strategy’ (chocolate, coffee, tiramisu or almond). In both cases ask for a sprinkle of whipped cream on the top and two delicious cornets (cialdoni). At this point you have perfection in your hands! The ‘Perche No!’ parlour, which opened 74 years ago, has been included by National Geographic in the Top Ten list of the best ice-cream place on Earth. Taste their fruit flavoured ice-cream and you’ll understand why…

“Could be the best gelato?”
Reviewed December 22, 2013 via mobile

My wife searches for the best Gelato every time and every place we go in Italy. This was some of the best.

Saw some reviews complaining of the cost. We were there in December 2013 (never too cold for some great gelato) when it was only 3 euros for a smaller size (there was an even smaller 2 euro size). So perhaps they raise the price during the tourist season. Nevertheless, I'd pay more for this gelato
