“Our favorite dinner place in Florence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

Almost every wine Antinori makes is available BY THE GLASS at this small and charming restaurant in the Palazzo Antinori. This alone is reason to go: if you've ever wanted to try Solaia (or Tignanello, or any of the other flagship Antinori wines) but couldn't stomach the bottle price, this is your chance. As it happens, the food and service are also excellent. The menu changes with the seasons, so you may see Pappardelle with Rabbit Ragu on one visit and Risotto with Scallops on another. The plates are just large enough for sharing, and small enough that o can order several in sequence. Although there are other restaurants we visit more often, this is one we never miss when we're in Florence.

“A refined restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

An excellent experience. A refined restaurant, a particular attention to details (even the glasses are personalized). The service was good, polite and sufficiently rapid. The food was delicious, in moderate quantity and the wine was great - we chose a 2010 wine, though there were more "recent" ones. The design of the restaurant is coherent, wood based and it has a higher level. The 10% service is included.

“great wines”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

Antinori is one of the most famous wine makers in the world,
so this restaruant is a good choice if you want to try their
wines. In particular I recommend Tignanello.
However, the food itself, although certainlty not being bad, I find
hard to believe it justifies its price.
The ambient is awsome (its a renaissance palace) and the location
is perfect (just in the historical centre of Florence).

“Great wine but skip the food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

Just returned from Cantinetta Antinori in Firenze. Disappointing way to spend our last night in Florence. We loved tasting fantastic Antinori wines by the glass, but next time will sit at the bar and skip the food. Unbelievably overcooked lamb, weak pasta dishes and fresh salad greens ruined by tasteless cheese. How can this menu support the Antinori brand?
Prices for the wine seemed correct, but were high for the food, especially for the quality (salad was 17 euros). The service was a delight.
The poor rating is for food only.

“Elegantly Presented Scrap Dishes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

Growing up in Tuscany I spent the summers in my Grandmother's and Mother's kitchen not realizing I ate better than 95% of humanity. We are not rich, just cultured and proud descendants of Tuscan Nobility and are selective about eating out. The Cantinetta Antinori is just like my Grandmother's and Mother's kitchens. Old bread is turned into a fancy dish called panzanella, left over chicken innards of gizzards and hearts become elegant crostini, a few scraps left over from wild hare, a rodent, and some eggs with flour are pappardelle alla lepre, and meat aged for days and cut way too thick to cook at home is bistecca alla fiorentina. The service is discreetly efficient and always prepared for any of your questions. Nothing is permitted to interfere with your enjoyment at the Cantinetta. The bar and dining areas feel just like my family's hospitality style, discreet and protected.
