We found this place by chance after visiting Santa Croce church. We were here for a simple lunch. They make excellent pizzas and good coffee. The ambience was lovely and relaxing. I can't fault this place and would return.

Baldovino is a classical local florentine restaurant which copes with high demand by efficient throughput. We have been three times now and have got in each time without reservations. It is always apparently full with forentines enoying dinner at their local restaurant but they do fit you in within a few minutes. The food is excellent; the service is necessarily efficient, the experience of being part of a mass of happily chomping jaws is uplifting. The ambience is typical and bustling; what might seem crowded elsewhere, here seems normal and jolly. If you can't get in elsewhere on a busy night; try Baldovino. One tip would be to go just before 8pm when the Italians get hungry.

Dont forget to eat their tiramisu. They also have a good selection of chianti wines. Very easy to find but not close to the bridge. Its a small restaurant so it might be crowded .

Baldovino is one of those fine places, which is a bit hidden but well known to locals with great food and great price! It is not a very big restaurant, so it gets really busy! Especially if you were to eat late around 8-9pm when all the Italians venture out for dinner. We arrived there on a Saturday night around 9.15pm, and the place is totally packed with quite a queue! The smiley staff told us it'd be 5 minutes, but since they are so busy, i think what they meant was 20 mins! We waited on anyway giving it's a saturday night, recommended in our guide book, and saw the food ourselves on other people's table, we just know we have to eat there! The place is full of Italians which is also a good sign! Besides we each got ourselves a glass of bubbly while we wait (not complimentary, but only costs 2 euro each in our bill).

Food is absolutely beautiful, and they come fairly quick even though it's so busy. The staff are absolutely full of character, very lively in their own way and were nice to us! We had a Bruschetta with Tomato and Basil as a starter to share, very tasty! As for the main meals, my partner really enjoyed his pizza there, says one of the best he had, and I had a very nice homemade dish Tagliatelle with beef ragu, which really satisfied my taste bud as well as my hungry stomach that constantly looking for starchy food! Shame we were too full by then to have a dessert, other wise they have a great selection of cakes which sounds really tempting. And the staff were kind enough to make an Irish coffee for my partner on special request, and made a very good one! Will definitely go there again when we are in Florence in the future.
