I came here to visit Florence, and this hotel provide good value yet good services. I have the front desk helped me book my tour to Pisa and he helped me to take care everything and let me know when the tour will pick me up. Breakfast are free, and I like the ham and egg. Only minus side is that it is not at the center of Florence but you can use the bus to get around.

We stayed her with a group of painters and friends before our workshop in Tuscany. The staff is extremely nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel was full on the back end of our trip and we stayed somewhere else more expensive and the staff was not friendly or as helpful as the people behind the desk at the Hotel Silla. The location is wonderful because it is out of the hub-bub of the center of town but not far walking distance. If the weather is good, you can have breakfast and sip wine on their outdoor terrace which is a lovely experience. The rooms are very clean and pleasant too.

This was the second hotel we stayed at in Florence during our recent travels. It was a bit of a Hail Mary pass because the Silla was a last minute booking we made from our tiny cottage in Civitella Marittima so we could make our early plane the following morning. We did it on booking.com, which went smoothly.

It feels smaller than a hotel and larger than a B&B which was perfect for us because it had the amenities we wanted without making us feel like we were in a Best Western in Akron. You really can't ask for a better location in Florence either. You're at the foot of Piazalle Michelangelo with the most stunning view available in Florence... a city where stunning views are around almost every corner.

Our room was clean and pretty tiny but well appointed with a real American-type shower. I don't know where the glass half-shower door-on-a-pivot came from but it's ubiquitous in southern Europe and creates soaking wet bathroom floors. Fortunately our room had a fully enclosed shower.

Broadband worked well and hotel management was friendly. The comp breakfast was also pretty good although we only had five minutes to scarf it down before our cab was there.

Mainly: location, location, etc. Oltarno is a beautiful neighborhood of hills and tiny alleys and you're a short walk across the picturesque Ponte alle Grazie or Ponte Vechio bridges from the sites, shopping and dining in the historic district on the other side of the Arno. From what little I could tell, the venues on the Oltarno side catered more to a 20-something crowd so it was a bit livelier.

The hotel is actually one flight up and the was some renovation going on in the atrium but it wasn't bothersome.
The only issue we faced was the same as every other hotel we stayed in Italy in November: little or no air conditioning. Fortunately, the windows open in older hotels like the Silla. Unfortunately, they don't have screens and Firenze mosquitoes are little vampires.

My wife and I spent part of our vacation at Hotel Silla. Unfortunate circumstances required that I had to stay 3 extra weeks in Florence. The hotel and staff were so helpful in helping us to maneuver the bus system and to find all the attractions. Their personal care and concern were sincere and palpable. The breakfasts are wonderful (I loved the cappuccinos every morning!) and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. This hotel goes out of the way to provide great service. The location is great--close to all the attractions, yet away from the crowds. And the view at the river is wonderful. There are great restaurants right around the corner from the hotel that are popular among the locals. We would recommend them to anyone going to Florence as a great place to stay.

Room Tip: A room that faces the terrace provides a great view!

Never quite stayed in a Hotel like this ,even though they were renovating it was very old fashioned and needed
more than a face lift !!
Having said that it was quiet and roomy.
Car park charges were 19 Euros per day over priced we agreed.
Position was good just a short walk over the river to centre.
Stayed 3 night 29th Sept for 3 nights.

This hotel looks a bit dated, but in a sort of cute English b&b kind of way. It is centrally located - right across the river from many of the major sites. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They recommended a great restaurant in the neighborhood one evening. There is a bus stop nearby and the bus will take you to/from the train station and to many major areas of the city. The hotel also has a lovely veranda, which is a perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee in the afternoon. There is free wi-fi and the hotel offers free use of a laptop in the lobby. The morning breakfast was fairly expansive and delicious. My only complaints are that the mattresses were very hard and the maid was smoking in our room (twice we found cigarette ashes and a stub on the window sill) and she closed our window after cleaning which meant that the air was stale when we came back later in the day.

Room Tip: We had a room that looked out to a side street. During afternoon siestas, we noticed there were seve...

Dear JSandIL,
Thank you very much for the very nice words about the hotel and our staff.

I'm very worried by the fact you found cigarette's stubs on the window sill. Please be assured our staff is made by professionals who know how to do their work and they have the management's and my trust. Said that and taking into account that smoking in the room would trigger the fire alarm, I suspect someone from the windows above your room might have threw their cigarettes, so they ended up on the window sill.
If we knew about this issue during your staying at the hotel it would have been easier to find out what exactly happened, still I'd be very grateful if you could write us to let us know the number of the room you stayed in.

Thank you again for your time,
Best Regards
Claudio Belotti

The staff at Silla Hotle were fantastic, especially Laura who served esppresso drinks in the morning and was always working hard. Salvo at the front desk was really nice and helpful. He provided good tips on where to dine and where to shop. One funny thing, the faucet handle in the bathroom sink kept falling off. The staff tried to fix it but it made using the sink a little challenging. Good location for exploring the city.
