We had an absolutely brilliant time in Florence and this apartment was a big part of that. Not only was it a lovely apartment (breakfasts on the terrace are definitely the best way to start the morning!) but it was also in a great location for everything you could want to see. Will definitely be staying there again and cannot recommend it highly enough!
We stayed for a week in Silva's lovely apartment. The whole apartment is lovely and has everything you need. We ate out on the terrace most evenings - as everyone mentions the terrace is undoubtably the highlight, with great views over Florence towards Santa Croce and San Miniato al Monte. There are a lot of steps, but this was only really a challenge for us when arriving with suitcases, fortunately Silva's friend met us on arrival and kindly helped us carry our suitcases upstairs.
There were only a couple of problems, and Silva was very quick and effective in responding to these. We couldn't get the hairdryer to work properly, but Silva arranged for it to be replaced the very next day after we mentioned it. Also we couldn't lock the door from the communal stairs to the terrace garden from the inside, so we could only lock it when we all went out. Silva couldn't arrange to get this fixed whilst we were staying, but reassured us of the safety of the area and the strength of the lock at street level, and we ensured we kept the doors of the apartment (including that to the terrace) locked during the night or if only one of us was inside during the day.
We tried a number of the supermarkets locally and really recommend the Conad supermarket immediately to the left on the far side of the Ponte Vecchio. The sandwich shop by the entrance to the apartment is amazing, as are the queues outside. Best ice cream ever is at Bar Vivoli Gelateria near Santa Croce. Our other big recommendation is the Italo Inter City trains, we made a great day trip to Verona as we found if you book these a couple of months in advance the prices are very good (€13 single per person).
We definitely recommend Silva's apartment, and hope to return.
We chose to stay here because we loved the photos of the terrace and we weren't disappointed! It was great to be able to sit out in the evening after a day visiting the nearby 'must-sees of Florence' with a glass of wine, a delicious meal made with ingredients from the food market or with a pizza from the restaurant just opposite the front door. And although the apartment was very central, being at the top of the building meant it was very quiet at night.
We spent very little time inside the apartment but it was ideal for my husband and I (who took the bedroom) and our daughter (who used the sofabed.)
And as there were no booking immediately before or after ours, Silva was very kind in letting us arrive earlier on our arrival day but more importantly stay later on our departure day so we could spend our last day out and about without having to worry about our cases and also come back to shower before we left for the airport. We would love to stay here again.
Absolutely fabulous. In the heart of the city. Near the gallery museums stores shopping restaurants. All of it
Just as advertised. Location couldn't be beat. Charming and homey. Stocked with all you'd need. Comfy bed. It's compact but well organized, like a "tiny house." Walking up 5 floors is not for everyone (esp w luggage) but we embraced the opportunity for exercise. The patio is the best. Having coffee and breakfast overlooking Florence was the best. Loved it!
As you know, Florence is a Renaissance museum mecca. And this apartment is right in the middle of things. We enjoyed our 2-week stay; ate in a couple of nights and ate out at fantastic nearby restaurants, on both sides of the river. Although diagonally across the old town from the train and bus stations, it was nonetheless only a 15 - 20 minute walk. The apartment was clean. Ample cookware available. The bathroom is small also, with a shower only -- with shower curtain instead of a shower stall. And while the bedroom is also small, the bed itself is queen to king size and very comfortable. The porches more than make up for that. And we wish we'd stayed in better weather so we could enjoy them more, both the porch off the main living area as well as the rooftop porch with the view to die for. One other point to the apartment: the stairs. Five flights of them. Other than getting the luggage in and out (once each), there were plenty of landings for us folks in our late 60's to catch our breath on. The good side is that because you're up that high, the nighttime noises are diminished. And that helps when probably the best gelato place (Gelato Via Neri) is just around the corner -- you get to burn off the calories and even late at night you don't hear the noise from the street. Overall a most positive experience at this apartment. And the landlady is nearby and available if needed, and extremely pleasant to talk with.
