We stayed at the Villa Covacchia last August, but I have only just discovered "Trip Advisor" - so here is my review. The villa is also a family home. We stayed in one of the 2 apartments converted from a very old house.
We loved it there. Although close to Florence airport, it is peaceful, with wonderful views. The personal attention given by the family is second to none, and our apartment was lovely.
There is a pool, and a lovely orchard with a hammock to relax in. You can walk down to nearby shops, and to the bus stop into the centre of Florence, but be prepared for the steep uphill walk on the way back. (or take you car down to the shops and leave it there) We visited a lot of nearby towns including Prato, Lucca, Montecatini and Siena - which I particularly liked. We also visited the designer outlet centre a few miles away, and I got an Armani leather jacket for £120.
It was our first visit to Italy, but we have already booked to return.
Pisa airport is just over an hour away.
We enjoyed our stay at Villa Covacchia very much.
