AC Hotel Firenze
Ranked #160 of 410 Hotels in Florence

We recently stayed here for one night on our trip to Florence. The hotel is very modern and has many more 'american-style' amenities than most italian hotels. The breakfast is very good and is a nice buffet spread.

As others have mentioned the hotel is about a 20 minute walk to most of the sites - but we didn't find this an inconvenience at all.

Parking ws 15 euros, but they didn't end up charging us for it - you do have to pay for internet though.

The rooms have laminate flooring, not carpet which makes them look modern, but makes for a lot of noise. We heard the people above us coming and going all night. The walls were also very thin... all of this led to a sort of unpleasant overnight experience.

Overall this hotel is reasonably priced and very modern, but just make sure you bring some ear plugs.

We enjoyed our stay at the AC Firenze. While the hotel is not in the main tourist area, and there is very little of interest (restaurants or attarctions) within walking distance of the hotel, we enjoyed the modern amenities and comfortable bedding provided.

Morning buffet breakfast was good. We did not eat dinner here, but the restaurant was busy.

We found hotel staff helpful in providing restaurant recommendations, and in helping us navigate public transportation.

Hotel is located two blocks from the Leopolda tram station. One stop on the tram will take you to Santa Maria Novella train station. However, at the tram station, you can also get on the C2 and C3 mini-busses, that will take you further into the tourist areas. No need to fear the bus. Felllow passengers are either pleaasant locals or tourists. Just make sure to stamp your ticket.

Nice touch: hotel mini-bar offers free beverages (bottled water and soda).

Also, do not miss the roof garden on the top floor. (Access us through the fitness center). Great views.

I would not hestiate to stay here again. Florence is wonderful!

With luggage, you'll need to take a taxi from the train station. After that, there are local buses one block away, and a tram about two blocks away. All these things run towards the train station, downtown. We were told that we would have to to pay extra to eat at the breakfast buffet, but at 12 euros per person, we decided that they were asking for too much money.. Unless you are here on a Sunday morning, you can get everything you need one block to the east (Bakery, pastry shop, deli, bars). I did the laundry on that street at a self service Lavaggio, two blocks north. You are not in the center of town, but you are five minutes away. Tickets for the local bus can be bought one at a time, but I got us a whole day pass for about 5 euros (at a tabac shop). For the price, it was a wonderful place....quiet and very nice.

I don't even know where to begin with this hotel. Our reservation included breakfast, which I verified with the manager before getting to the hotel. When we arrived, we were told we would not be getting breakfast. We are Gold Mariott members I asked to speak to the manager, the woman at the front desk explained that there wasn't a manager at the hotel, and that there would not be one during the entirety of our stay (5 days). Really?

At one point we asked where to go to get museum tickets. The staff at the front, told us they would be glad to book the tickets for us. She sure did, and overcharged us 40 Euros for them. I found this out when I got to the museum and saw the tickets cost 9 euros, not 50. When I brought this up to the staff, she gave me about 15 euros (in 1 euro coins) from petty cash, as hush money I suppose. It was....ridiculous.

I don't typically use the word, "shady", but that is the only thing that comes to mind when dealing with this staff. I've never dealt with Mariott affiliated staff that has acted in such a manner, but on many occasions they made clear to state, they're not really affiliated with Mariott. Ok. You're just advertised as a Mariott brand.

As far as the hotel itself. It was very clean, and a modern, posh atmosphere. Our room, was a bit small (by American Standards anyway), but had an unbelievable view of the tuscan hillside and the city. Having had the privilege of meeting the staff, I'm amazed the walls haven't fallen in.

Dear Mr. Lucas,

First of all I would like to thank you for writting your impressions and for allowing us to share them with you. Regarding the things that you wrote, I am afraid Sir that it is impossible that I myself could have confirmed you that your reservations made through the redemption Marriott points could include breakfast. In this new brand (AC Hotels by Marriott), breakfast is not included. Upon your arrival in the hotel, you were informed Sir that you were supposed to pay for breakfast, you insisted saying that being a Gold Member, breakfast must be included, but the person at the front office showed you a copy of the confirmation that you for sure had received when you made your reservation, indicating that breakfast was not included.
I can understand your upset for this matter, but I cannot change rules and conditions agreed between the two chains ( AC Hotels an Marriott ).

regarding the museums reservations, I kindly ask you to visit the museums website www.firenzemusei.it, and try yourself to make a reservation, you will notice that the ticket cost is from 6 to 9 euros (should decide to go there, wait hour in line and buy the tickets directly at the entrance) and in case of an advanced reservation, the cost goes from 14 to 20 euros ( depending on periods and events in the museums. I can assure you that our staff makes at least 20 reservations per day , and none of our guests complained about this service.

I once again would like to thank you for allowing us to share your impressions and I remain at your complete disposal for any further information you may require

Sincerely yours

We were very happy with this brand new lovely hotel. All areas were immaculate and we thought the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is .9 miles from the city center (1 tram stop). We did not find this an inconvenience at all in fact it was nice to be away from the very crowded streets of Florence for the evening. We had dinner about 7:30 each night and didn't even bother going back to the hotel first and found this worked best instead of tramming in and out twice a day. Our room was just a bit a small but very comfortable with a beautiful bathroom.

Room was comfortable. A bit far from downtown in terms of walking distance, but very well connected with public transportation. Breakfast was below the average for the american's standards. Still this ridiculous concept that you've to pay for Internet (in 2012!!!). Free minibar was (as always a pleasure).
TV channels set as a tradition in the Italian hotels was confusing, with no logic and absolutely of low quality.
Front Desk staff was OK. Pillows were a bit too hard. This hotel was OK but I didn't feel like home.

We stayed at AC hotel on the last day of our honeymoon. We were a bit tired but hotel offered a lot comfort.

Hotel is located just 1 tram station away from main train station. Almost tourist spots are in walking distance. Great room condition, breakfast and hospitable staffs.

No restaurant around the hotel but just few steps away, there are some restaurants.

Great value
