We stayed at the Villa Lucrezia on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Florence. We're glad we did! Each room in this hotel is a small apartment with its own living room/kitchen in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. We stayed in the Ghilberti room which had beautiful brightly-colored tile in the kitchen and bath and a big bedroom. The living room had a sleep sofa so we could have accommodated two children easily. The kitchen was fully equipped and included an Italian mocha pot of the standard Bialetti design. We walked down to the local market 2 blocks away and bought mocha ground coffee, wine, cheese, bread, salami and pastry and we not only saved money, we felt like real Italians! There are also several restaurants within a few blocks and the bus stop is right on the corner so all of your needs are taken care of. You'll need to take a bus to get to the tourist spots but you'll get much more space and convenience for your money at the Villa Lucrezia then you ever will at a hotel in the tourist area.

Room tip: Try the Ghilberti room.

We find the hotel very easily, and were greet at the front desk by a very kind lady. She gave us all the information we needed to visit Firenze. The appartment was huge, clean, we had coffee, the small kitchenette was very usefull.

From the secure entrance, through reception to the room itself what has to be commented on is the cleanliness - the whole place is spotless. The check-in was friendly, no quibble that we were early, gave us a map and talked about nice places to visit, where the bus stop was, which buses to get and how much that would cost. Cannot have asked for more.
We were given the key and talked around our studio apartment....all good for dining in or just using as a base. Great shower, loved having the bedroom on a balcony overlooking the living area - lots of space, nice and bright with electric blinds and opening windows.
It may be a short taxi ride (or bus) out of the centre (a taxi will cost €10-15) but for the price and as mentioned the cleanliness and secure feel to the property: you'll do well to do better than this.

My tip - don't forget to take the Villa's business card with you when you want a taxi - they cannot envisage where you mean when you show them on a phone or even a paper map - but if you show them the card or say Piazza Puccini then you'll be okay!

Our family stayed with 15 months infant for 2 days in this property. I can recommend for families with children: place is quiet, but if window is open, then you hear transport noise from the street. There still wasn't heating on at the last decade of October, so it was a bit cold and we used all blankets which were available. Kitchen is equipped and clean, just mircowave and kettle are missing, especially for guests with children. Parking is at additional 10 eur per night, so we looked and found free parking nearby. Location is very good easily reachable by bus to Station and then everything is walking distance.
