We saw all the great reviews on Tripadvisor and booked this B&B. When we arrived the owner looked a bit suprised as he didn't expected us. A bit grumpy he showed us our room. The room was fine, it was clean and looked nice. But the owner wasn't as friendly as everyone was saying online. He didn't seem to enjoy his work at all. For example he cleaned our bed half. We arrived at 22.00 and there were no sheets on our blanket and pillows. Pretty annoying. When we spoke the owner the next morning he didn't seem to be very interested about his mistake.

Same about breakfast, everyone on Tripadvisor is super enthousiastic about it, but it was very sober. A few croissant and a few slices of bread. Yes, the owner bakes, but we don't really like sweets in the morning. Besides the bread and sweets there was not much else to eat.

The location is in a quiet street and yes it's nice to sleep outside of the centre, but it's not so easy to get in the centre. You can take the bus, but you never know when it arrives. Walking from this B&B to the centre is a bit too far, especially when you're also walking in the centre all day long. If you want to have dinner close to the B&B I recommend Pizzeria Antica Porta or Podere 39.

Overall, if I compare this B&B to the one I had in the centre of Rome I can only come to one conclusion; average. It's pretty expensive for it's location and facilities. I'm pretty sure that I'll look for another B&B if I ever visit Florence again!

Thought we'd give a B&B a go as the photos and reviews were so good but were disappointed to find a shabby house with little old fashioned beds about a foot shorter & narrower than the average bed (maybe kids beds).Fairly poor breakfast in a teeny room which is ok if you want to sit next to other guests and the owners chatting & watching what you eat.

Our five days at SanGaggio House couldn't have been better. Getting in late, the first morning view out the back window took our breath away. It's a walkers paradise. Located an easy 15-min. stroll from Porta Romana and Boboli Gardens meant the ample breakfasts and five course meals didn't budge the scales. Thanks, Agostino!

The hotel was easy to find even when using public transportation, only a 5min walk from bus stop. We received an upgrade since there was a room available at no charge. The B&B is run by a family and they are all very attentive and friendly. The room was clean and spacious, for the money that you pay it's a great deal. The breakfast was delicious, lots of options. The restaurant near by was delicious, one of the best meals we had in Italy. On the last day I forgot to get bus tickets and our host ran to the store to get tickets for us while we had breakfast. The service was truly outstanding. My husband and I would definitely stay there again.

We were extremely happy with our stay here. Everything was really very good: clean and spacious room, generous breakfast, nice shower experience. And the gem of of it all was the hosts attentive attitude. They really cared about where we go and what's the best plan we can have. Agostino, the owner, offered to come and get us back from the restaurant with his car, to save us from climbing up the hill late in the evening! He recommended to us a fantastic dinner place, not far from the house (Podere 39). We are truly thankful to our wonderful hosts!
