With only two days in Florence (yes, we need to go back!) we opted to roll 3 tours (Florence Walking Tour, Uffizzi Tour, David Tour) into one day. It was exhausting of course, but definitely well worth the time and money. What made this day so special was the warmth and expertise of Brenda, our tour guide. We were fortunate to have her for all 3 tours, so by the end of the day we felt we had known her for some time! She had a wonderful sense of humor and truly brought Florence to life for us.

We highly recommend Artviva, and Brenda!

Fabulous tour guide and excellent tour! My second with this company. The difference this tour offers is the quality of the guides. They are superbly trained and knowledgeable about their material. Their enthusiasm makes all the difference and you are engaged from beginning to end. Their tours are not too large, the headquarters is easy to find and the guides are full of useful hints about where to go in the city of Florence. I have had two tours with this company and would use them again for my next trip. Highly recommended.

We took 3 tours in Florence: The Tuscany tour, the Uffizi plus Corridor Tour and the David Tour. The first 2 were excellent in every way - our guides were very personable and extremely fluent in English. Can't say the same for our guide for the David Tour. His command of English was marginal but what made this tour a problem was there was an international bike race passing around Florence on the day of the tour. There were limited crossings and we needed to cross the bike path only once to get from the tour office to the museum. but our guide proceeded to have us cross once near the tour office and then walk along the huge crowds along the bike route (exposing us to pickpockets) and then he had us cross back again and then a while later a third cross. I pointed out that there was more direct walk to the museum requiring us to cross only once and avoiding all the crowds along the bike route. He shrugged it off.

We appreciate you having taken the time to review our tours. Firstly, we’re glad you found the first 2 of our tours to be excellent. It is a shame you mention so little about them and we can only hope you’re memories of Italy focus more on these experiences. During the time of the World Cycling Championships, most agencies simply cancelled their tours. We rather went to extraordinary effort to ensure we could still show visitors the must-sees of Florence on what may well be a trip of a lifetime. In a city as small as Florence, there were no direct ways to cross the city without crossing the race’s path. A map provided by the race organisers indicated a few crossing points in the city, however not all of these ended up being in the locations shown nor being open at the scheduled times. Many crossing points were crowded with the thousands of spectators and international media here for the event, meaning it took a long time to pass. For this reason, prior to each tour a staff member physically ran the entire length of every tour to check the situation. On the day of your tour, we took the best possible route at the time to ensure your group was not held up too long, whilst still being able to cover all tour inclusions, being much more than simply looking at the David statue.

We booked three tours with Artviva in Florence. Our first afternoon in Florence we booked the Streets and Speaks tour hoping for a more casual introduction to Florence and learning a little Italian on the way. Chiara was warm and friendly and we had the wonderful fortune of having her all to ourselves. She showed us her Firenze and took us to various sites and artisan workshops that most likely you wouldn't find on tours that focus on the most popular sites. It was a lovely view thru the eyes of a local. She made the Italian lesson fun with no pressure. We enjoyed our time with her very much and we did learn a little Italian.

Our second tour was the next day at the Ufizzi with Claus (I think). He was very enthusiastic to share his broad knowledge of the art and the history around it. I had never taken a tour in a museum before, usually opting to stroll thru at my leisure. This experience added so much to the experience, all ofnwhich I would have missed on my own. It was a pleasurable and very informative tour.

Our third tour was on the next day with Elizabeth to the Accademia to see David. She was an awesome guide and shared a great deal of information about Michalengelo, his life, and his technique. David is an amazing work of art and Elizabeth's knowledge and her pointing out various details really added to the experience.

We highly recommend Artviva tours. When we return to Italy we will book with them again, especially the non traditional tours like the Streets and Speak. I applaud them for offering these very creative and visionary ways to visit Italy. Thanks for enhancing our journey.

I did the Uffizi tour this afternoon (5th November 2013) with Klaus. I felt compelled to write to Artviva to let them know how excellent this was! Klaus was amazing and his obvious enthusiasm for Florence and Art was infectious. I wish I could take him with me every time I go to a museum.
