Great hotel that was reasonable and within a short distance of the town centre. The owners were very helpful and friendly and the room was clean and spacious with a lovely classic decor.
Breakfast is delivered to the room and was continental with juice, rolls etc. and warm pastries that were fantastic.
Overall great value for money and a lovely place to stay in this beautiful city.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in June 2010 and we both loved it. The location is very convenient for the train station (just a pity there was a train strike the day we were leaving!), and San Lorenzo (Medici Chapel, market, restaurants, cafes). About a fifteen/twenty min walk to the main sites like the Duomo, Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and speaks perfect English. She has a selection of guide books which you can borrow at no extra cost. Continental breakfast served in your room was also included in the price. Our room was beautifully decorated and very spacious, and even though the building is quite old it is very well maintained, fully air-conditioned and with free wifi, while also retaining a charming Risorgimento-era character. All in all great value for money and would recommend it to anyone. Will certainly stay here again when we return to Florence.

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms so book early!

Morag, the owner, is friendly and very helpful with lots of useful advice. The room, which had high ceilings, was quiet, clean and comfortable though a bit dark. The breakfasts, served in the room, were good but a little cramped. Position is within walking distance of most attractions. Very good value for money.

I found Casa di Barbano on Tripadvisor and booked a stay based on the reviews. Casa di Barbano feels more like a B&B than a hotel: the rooms are part of the owner's house. There is a wall that separates the hotel from the owner’s apartment and so you have feel comfortable coming and going without disturbing anyone. Price-wise the rate was affordable and the stay included breakfast (in your room), room service and free wireless.

The hotel is located on a quiet street outside the main tourist area and so it's not noisy. The location is close to several main attractions, including the Duomo, Uffizi and the L’Accademia. Overall the room was decent sized with high ceilings and antique furniture, the bed was comfortable, however, the bathroom felt rather old and dated.

Moraq, the owner, is a gem, during your stay and beyond. Upon checking in, she helped us book tickets for the Uffizi and L’Academia Gallery, despite the site stating there were no more reservations and it was sold out! We ended up buying a Firenze card which gave us access to all the major museums and transit access for 3 days and if you plan accordingly, is well worth the 50 Euro. My husband never got his drivers license from the Uffizi and Moraq not only collected it, but mailed it back to him in the US!

In sum, I would highly recommend Casa di Barbano if you are looking for a nice, comfortable and clean place for your stay in Florence!

We found Casa di Barbano in Tripadvisor and based on the good reviews, we decided to stay at this hotel for 4 nights. Finding a hotel in Florence can be a bit overwhelming as there are plenty of choices and hotels are expensive.

Casa di Barbano is not exactly the standard hotel. It's actually part of the owner's house and there are only three rooms. Make sure you know how to get there, specially if you check in late at night, as there is no hotel sign outside. By the way, the map provided in the hotel's website is actually more useful than the one in Google maps if you are coming from the SMN train station. We payed a rate of 95 EUR per night, which is not very expensive for a place like Florence. The rate included a very good breakfast and room service.

The hotel is located on a quiet street outside the main tourist area, which is great because it's not noisy, and it's just a short 9 min walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station and a pleasant 15 min walk to the Duomo.

Our room was very cozy, good sized, bed was comfortable and the private bathroom was very clean. Hot water and water pressure were also very good. There is also free wireless. Breakfast is included in the price and the owner actually brings it to your room!

Moraq, the owner, was really friendly and helpful. A few days before checking in, she helped us book tickets for the Uffizi and the Academia Gallery, which gave us direct access to the museums and helped us avoid hours of queuing. She is very nice and approachable.

In sum, I would highly recommend Casa di Barbano if you are looking for a nice, comfortable and clean place for your stay in Florence!

The first thing to say about this B&B is that the owner and her husband, gives you really great service! They give you really good advice on where to eat, what to see and so on, and all in a really warm and welcoming manner. Also the breakfast is served every morning in the room. With fresh coffe, croissants, yoghurt etc. It's really great to get breakfast in bed every morning:)
This B&B is also quite close to the train staition, which is a plus if you're travelling by train. It is also only a short walk to the center of the city.

I stayed at Casa Di Barbano for 4 nights in April 2011. I got with this wonderful place, quietness and convenience While the facility and amenity is minimal (basically what you pay for), I found this place quite charming with the a nice owner.
