“Great location and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

Casa Rovai Guest House was very positive experience, Elisa was so helpful and made enquiries and bookings for us, and she has good recommendations, for restaurants, theatre and even hairdressers.
We, felt very safe, and comfortable and a very easy location. Close to everything. Would highly recommend this guest house, for stays in florence.

The room I had featured walls that were 10 feet high and a painted ceiling that was over 100 years old. It was clean and had a private bath. The breakfast was more than adequate. There was a little balcony off the breakfast area from which I wrote emails and enjoyed a morning coffee. The location was central and about a 20 minute walk from the train station. It was a five minute walk from the famous duomo. For 10 euro, a person can walk to the top of the bell tower to take pictures. My knee did not hold up well on the 828 steps (up and down) so make sure the body can take the climb. Restaurants and shops are all within an easy walking distance of this B&B.

First of all - the location. One cannot imagine a better place to stay in if you want to visit most of the Florence attractions. Everything is in a walking distance of 5-10 minutes from the guest house. Also, if you want to plan a trip you can always count on the staff to provide you with necessary information, a good advice and with a city map,
Secondary - the rooms. They are spacious and really beautiful. Staying in a room is not an unpleasant necessity - as it usually is in different hotels/guest houses - but it becomes a tourist experience in itself.
What's more breakfasts are also provided (very tasty breakfasts) and visitors have all day access to drinking water.
What makes stay at Casa Rovai really enchanting are the people responsible for it. Elisa is helpful, caring and treats others with genuine respect. During my stay I have authentically felt welcome and 'at home'. Other people working at Casa Rovai are also as pleasant and welcoming as it gets. Over two weeks I've grown to miss leaving Casa Rovai and its staff.
To sum up I cannot imagine a better place to stay in while visiting Florence. Dont hesitate to book your room there!

Room Tip: Tell Elisa what do you need - she'll choose the best room for you.

The first downside of this property is that is extremely hard to find it if you're driving around in Florence for the first time and the GPS is not always helpful. We had to circuit the area and call the property several times in order to find it. Secondly the property is on a second floor of a building. If you're in Florence for a short stay this is perfect but if you're travelling from the other side of the world with lots of luggages like we where is not really practical. There are rules about parking the car in that side of the city or even entering by car on that side of the city as it is a restricted zone. To validate the ticket you need to park at a nearby car parking (Eur 25 per day).
The location is good really close to main attractions and great local restaurants. Breakfast is not great and coffee is not really up to the "Italian" style ( very bitter) Rooms are quite old and mattress is squeaky but I guess this is normal in Florence -
There is no reception after 1 so you need to have a phone at hand as you will need to call upon arrival. There is no help with the luggages

My wife and I stayed at Casa Rovai for the second time in the past three years and were not disappointed with the experience. We love the secluded feel while being just a short walk from our favorite Florence attractions. Looking out into the courtyard from our room gave us a feeling of being in Florence a couple centuries ago. The staff was very helpful from reservations to suggestions for great restaurants. There's a warm place in our hearts for Casa Rovai and we will definitely stay again when we return to Italy.

My family (of 5) traveled to Florence in July 2013 to collect our daughter from her 9 week stay in Florence. We found Casi Rovai on the Internet (which was a quick walk to our daughters apt. ~ 'HUGE' bonus for us) while looking for B&B's and couldn't have been more pleased with our accommodations! Elisa and her staff were extremely pleasant, most helpful and very accommodating throughout our 7 night stay. The breakfast was lovely and it was a plus for our other children to have access to the computers in the breakfast room during our downtime. We would definitely stay at Casa Rovai again should our travels take us to Florence, Italy and we most certainly recommend it to others looking for something other than a "standard hotel" stay while in Italy! Ciao!!

To stay at Casa Rovai is to experience an older European way of travel. It is not really a hotel, it has its own boarding house charm. There are 3 very friendly and helpful staff to attend to the breakfast buffet; to clean rooms & make ANY needed arrangements. They are available until about 1pm. Guests may be responsible for as many as 4 keys: one for the street-level front door; one for the Casa Rovai, up a few flights of stairs; one for the room and, perhaps, a key for your private, separate bath. I eventually got used to the keys & to the house rules, and I enjoyed the other guests met at breakfast during my stay. Only one serious drawback: the hallways are absolutely pitch dark at night. It's a matter of WHEN an accident will occur on the stairwell, to that hapless guest who doesn't have a flashlight ready.
