Gourmet Giglio Bianco B&B
Ranked #186 of 659 Florence B&B and Inns
Reviewed October 22, 2013

We recently stayed a night at Giglio Bianco as part of our honeymoon. My only complaint is that we only stayed one night. We arrived early in the day and called to ask if we could drop our bag off not expecting to check in as it was early. However, Edo and Vary welcomed us so warmly, had our room ready, provided us with suggestions for the day and then sent us off to explore with their cell phone in case we needed anything and their Rick Steves Florence book. The room was really comfortable and lovely. Now, for the crazy part. Vary is a chef who will make you dinner if you choose. Make sure you choose. It was the best meal of our vacation. A beautiful five course meal of authentic, freshly prepared Italian fare. Wonderful flavors and each course better than the last. The breakfast was as divine. Edo and Vary are so very warm and generous. Our stay with them is certainly not our last. It was like staying with friends and being very spoiled. They genuinely cared that we were comfortable, having a great time, and Vary was so careful to make sure she served fare that we enjoyed. Shear perfection!!!!!! Also, it is in a great location for exploring Florence.

We had 2 nights at Giglio Bianco during a short stop recently. Edo and Vary were most welcoming and helpful; quite effusive hosts. We enjoyed their company. The location was great. Very close to Ponte Vecchio and direct access to the city centre. The room (one of only two) was comfortable and away from main street so pleasantly quiet. The breakfasts were a good start to the day, but highlight was surely the special dinner we enjoyed from Vary's kitchen.

A nice stay in Florence. Vary & Edo are friendly and very very busy. They provided a nice room with breakfast. My husband says the omelette is the best he has ever had. Location is good and a short walk to Ponti Veccio. If you are interested in food and cooking Vary does do classes. We did feel however one day when it was very wet we couldn't sit in dining room/library as sign said no entry, so we did feel a little awkward. Provision of tea/coffee available for 24 hr use but unfortunately milk not available unless Vary or Edo were On site.
Thank you both however for your hospitality, remember not to work too hard at too many things.

Room Tip: There are only two rooms with private bathroom.

This B and B was wonderful, and it was clear from the attention to detail, and the amazing breakfasts that both husband and wife were passionate about caring for their guests. Best omelettes I have had in a long time. The room was quiet and comfortable, and the location was excellent. If you like the B and B experience, you will love this establishment.

We were delighted with our stay at Giglio Bianco in September this year! It is difficult to find the words to describe just how pleased we were with every aspect of our stay; the room was great (spacious and clean), the hosts - Vary and Edy - were so helpful, friendly and fun, and the food was absolutely amazing.
These guys really pay attention to the detail in what they do, and their hard work is obvious. Nothing was too much trouble for them to do for us: phoning the Uffizi to book tickets for us (and save us about an hour in a queue), giving recommendations and directions, and of course chatting to us after dinner and telling us about some of their adventures and travels!
The 5 course meal that we enjoyed there was probably the best meal we had while in Italy - all locally and freshly sourced ingredients that were so tasty, put together expertly by our hosts.
If we went to Florence again I would not hesitate to book in to Giglio Bianco again - it was such good fun and very memorable!
Thanks so much Vary and Edy for having us and making it our stay in Florence so special!

I stayed at the B&B during the summer, and I had a great time. Since I was alone for my cooking class, Chef Vary let me choose my own menu. We made many dishes, and I had individual coaching for each one. Then afterwards, I ate my meal with delicious wine while listening to relaxing music in their lovely living room. Edoardo and Vary were wonderful! What a great last night in Florence.

I can't say it was luck that brought us to Giglio Bianco because I researched places to stay in Florence for a year before our trip. (I'm a bit possessed when it comes to travel planning.)

We had visited Florence several times, the most recent was 15 years ago. We had stayed in an amazing apartment overlooking the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio. The apartment was no longer being rented. We knew what we wanted: the Oltrarno; an establishment that was homey and small (with only a few rooms); healthy breakfast choices.

When we read Trip Advisor reviews of Giglio Bianco we worried that it was too good to be true. It was all true! Including the extraordinary hosts, Vary and Edo. My wife and I (we are not Italian) believe we came as close as we ever will to living IN an Italian family, with all the warmth and energy for which these families are stereotypically famous.

Vary's cooking and Edo's chivalry (that is the right word for it) were off the scale! The food was marvelous, not only the amazing breakfasts but the fabulous dinner we arranged for.

We also took advantage of the many charming restaurants nearby, all in walking distance.

So, here we are, back home testifying to the accuracy of the many TA reviewers who praised Giglio Bianco. Such wonderful memories....

Room Tip: There are two rooms; either one is terrific.
