“Fabulous!”
Reviewed April 29, 2008

My husband and I recently stayed at Giglio Bianco with another couple and loved our stay. Each of our rooms had its own private bath equipped with robes and blow dryers. Eduardo and Varinia were wonderful hosts. I highly recommend having dinner their one night as Varinia's cooking is worth it! She even taught us how to make homemade pasta! If we are ever back in Florence, we would love to stay here again.

Also, one note, they are on the second floor which makes carrying heavy bags up the stairs difficult.

We enjoyed the intimacy of the bed and breakfast very much. Giglio Bianco has only 2 guest rooms with private baths in the owner's home. Our room was large and the window was on a side of the home with no traffic so it was quiet. We had lovely conversations with our hosts as they apologized for their English not being very strong. We were clear that our 20 words of Italian were no match and that we understood them very well. The owners are charming and we enjoyed a cooking class to make ravioli, torte and tiramisu. All were delicious. Each morning were were served an American breakfast of fresh baked croissants, eggs (any style you choose), bacon, fresh squeezed orange juice, tea and coffee. Florence is not large so even being on the other side of the Ponte Vecchio did not impact our sightseeing of the city. The owners were able to recommend local wine and cheese shops (vacuum packed to take home on the plane) as well as restaurants in the area. We would absolutely stay there again and have been recommending it to our friends and family who are planning trips to Italy.

My sister and I spend 4 wonderful nights at this B&B. The room was very comfortable and clean with a place to hang clothes and a desk and it also had its own private bath which was very nice. There was a computer in the hall to access the internet if needed. The hosts Eduardo and Varinia were great! They have a wonderful room they serve the meals in and the fresh made pastries Varinia cooked up every morning were fabulous. We also did a cooking class with Varinia which we enjoyed very much. The dinner was so good, we had her make us one the next night. Varinia added extra touches to make our dinner really special, she had music playing in the background and candles and wine, it would be a great setup for a couple looking to have a private, romantic dinner. I will definitely return to this B&B!

My husband and I stayed at Giglio Bianco B&B for 3 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday, and we cannot say enough about how much we loved it here. Eduardo and Varinia are truely wonderful hosts who made us feel right at home. The B&B is located a little away from the touristy center of town (10 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio) but we enjoyed walking around the streets around the B&B and looking in all of the craftsman's shops. Upon arrival, Eduardo gave us a tour of the apartment, and we sat down to drink a refreshing beer, while he gave us an overview of the city sites and restaurant suggestions. Our room was a nice size, complete with thoughtful touches such as a small refrigerator and bathrobes. The bathroom was also a good size, and I appreciated the full size hairdryer. Begining each day with a freshly cooked breakfast while sitting in the living room listening to music really made us relax and appreciate our vacation. We had a Thanksgiving dinner to remember, with a four course meal cooked by Varinia that was delicious! She will prepare a meal according to your preferences, but we just let her cook whatever she wanted, and we were not dissapointed! We are still talking about it! Eduardo and Varinia made us feel like friends, and we enjoyed our conversations with them. We had forgotten our alarm clock, and had an early morning flight, so they thoughtfully placed an alarm clock outside our door so we would not oversleep. Quite the opposite, we accidentally woke up an hour early, and were trying to quietly put our bags outside when Eduardo came out and told us what time it really was! I don't know why we were surprised, as they had been so thoughtful about everything else, but that really was nice. We laughed (quietly) at our mistake an tried to catch a little more sleep. Then an hour later (the right time..but still VERY early in the morning) as we were leaving, Eduardo came out again to help us down the stairs with our suitcases. We still cannot thank them enough for all of thier kindnesses, and we would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful B&B to anyone.

We stayed three nights at Giglio Bianco in September -- this was the best place we stayed at during our trip! Eduardo and Varinia are truly wonderful people and hosts. Very talkative, very helpful, and very entertaining! You literally share their apartment with them so they are almost always there to discuss things (which they love doing). The room is large, quiet, and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was large and modern. A PC is located in the hall. We were fortunate enough to have two magnificent gourmet dinners cooked by Varinia. My wife and I also attended her pasta-making class. Breakfasts were equally great – fresh baked pastries each morning! A great reason to return to Florence.
