I stayed in this hotel for 2 days on May 2012. The people are friendly, the hotel is nice and pretty and the price is really reasonable. The breakfast was also very tasty specially the croissants! The hotel has a nice terrace where you can enjoy your breakfast but it was a bit cold for that time of the year. There is also free WiFi available. The location is not right in the middle of the downtown (historic center) but bus #17 in front of the hotel will take you there in less than 10 minutes. if you want to take a cab at late night it is about 10 Euros. Also ,there are all kinds of shops available around the hotel and it is near the train station.
The owners Dominico and his wife were very friendly and helpful. I reserved a single bed hotel, but they gave me a large room with queen bed. Most of the rooms have private bathroom and everything was very clean.
The only thing that was a bit difficult for me was that the whole hotel is at a second floor and there is no elevator available. You should carry your suitcase up yourself. In my case, because I wan not able to carry it all the stairs up, I left it unattended downstairs and Mr Domenico kindly agreed to carry it up for me.
I recommend this hotel to people who are looking for a clean, clam and nice place with reasonable price.

I visited the hotel at the end of September with a large group of people and we all agreed that it was a great place to stay. The hotel was a bit further from the old town (20 minute walk) but everything you need is close by (a bank, supermarket, restaurants, tabacchi etc..). Bus no. 17 is a very convenient way to get to the hotel from the train station and the bus stop is just in front of the hotel so you can't miss it. The breakfast hit the spot and the coffee served by the owner was excellent. I need to also mention that the hotel has a terrace where you can enjoy your morning espresso. The owners Dominico and his wife were the loveliest people and when I had my wallet stolen they were very helpful and supportive. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for something small, out of the center, with a caring owner and that home feeling.

We stayed for just 2 days in Florence. This Hotel is perfectly run by Mr Domenico and his wife. The bedrooms are more than sufficient and the breakfast is ample!! Perfect location for getting to and from the city as the bus stops right outside the hotel. We will certainly go back for another stay!

PROS:
+ Good location. Away from the city center, yet within walking distance of the train station (CAMPO DI MARTE, NOT SMN) and there's a bus at the corner that takes you downtown.
+ Very pretty hotel. Ample bedrooms, with private bathroom. Nice open terrace
+ Staff (owners?) is friendly, though you can sometimes tell that they've been doing the same routine day after day over years.
+ Nice breakfast.
+ Free WiFi, strong signal in the room (though our room was the closest one to the reception desk, so that could have helped).
CONS:
- The whole hotel is at a second floor (Gnd, 1, 2), and there is no elevator. The entrance is kind of creepy in fact (you go past some kind of medical clinic)
- Restaurants in the neighborhood are not open all day, so if it's not lunch or dinner you won't find anything open.
- The A/C in my room was too cold, wouldn't actually regulate temperature, and straight to th bed. Might be fixed later though.
- You could have the bad luck to get the room which has the door that leads right to the breakfast room, so I guess that might be noisy in the morning.
- At the time of our stay (mid Sept 2012), they were doing maintenance on the building right next to the hotel. They start hammering and drilling around 9am. Of course that is not the hotel's fault, and it's temporary.

We were a bit worried when booking the Hotel Emma because of the low price but couldn't fault it at all. My daughter and I stayed for 5 nights in June. Although the hotel is within walking distance of Florence it was so hot when we were there we never attempted it but didn't have any problems with the local buses. The stop from the centre of Florence stops directly outside the hotel. The owner was really helpful and though he didn't speak much English this didn't create any problems. I was particularly grateful to him for breaking into my suitcase as I had lost the key for the lock. The main reason we bookd the hotel, apart from the price, was the roof terrace and air con and neither disappointed. We found the hotel really homely and would definitely recommend it.

I have no complains about Emma Hotel. For me everything was perfect. I stayed in a beroom for 3 people. Very spacious, the bathroom is almost the same size of the bedroom. Very clean, they have airconditioner, hairdryer, nice shower. The treatment is increible, they are very friendly. The breakfest is good but don´t expect too much, but I think that in Italy they don´t serve a good breakfest in general. Coffee (very good), bread, some ham, nothing else. The location, for me is perfect, I never like to stay just in the old city center, in the neighbourhood is better to find good restaurants with best prices. There is a bus just in the corner that takes you to the city center in 5 minutes.

Having been to Firenze before we were a bit apprehensive about staying further away from the centre, but Hotel Emma is seconds from a bus stop that gets you to most places. The owner also sells bus tickets (€1.20). The owner is a very friendly man who is always available and very helpful. We stayed in one of the 2 "budget" rooms at the front of the hotel, with the open shower cubicle in the corner of the room. It was also a wee bit noisy during the day, but not a huge problem as we were out most of the time. Only big downside is that the hotel is up 2 flights of stone stairs with no lift, but it's only a pain on arrival and departure. Well worth a stay, can thoroughly recommend!
