Firenze Loft
Ranked #214 of 326 Specialty Lodging in Florence
Reviewed October 1, 2008

I stayed with two friends at the Firenze Loft in early September and we thought it was beautiful. We took some photos but unfortunately they didn't turn out. We stayed in Loft 2. Two of us shared a large bed and one of us stayed on the couch. Everything was new and modern. The loft was very convenient to the train station. After I booked, I worried that maybe we were too close to the station hence the reasonable price but I never heard a train while we stayed there. Tomasso did a wonderful job renovating this apartment and my friends and I felt like we could live there. Everyone has different experiences when traveling but I was aware that we had to pay in cash (we had to pay cash for most of the tourist apartments we rented) and I was also aware of the check in time so neither of these things were a problem for me. I felt the lofts were in a good location because Florence is not a huge city and we were able to walk to most places.

We booked our trip over the internet and were told that we could pay with a credit card. We arrived and had to pay cash resulting in and extremely expensive money exchange process (13% in Italy!). The room was not available for 2 hours after check in time.

We stayed for 7 nights and there was no cleaning during the week - only a change of towels. Unable to open the windows properly so the garbage in the kitchen began to smell by the time we checked out. Attacked by mosquitos every night - we have no idea where they came from! Location behind the station was not 'centrally located' as advertised but 10-15 minuted walk through roadworks to get to the nicer part of town. No restaurants nearby, however there were a few coffee shops and grocery stores and a nice wine shop!

Kitchen was well equipped however had no kettle to make tea.

Bathroom was great - good shower - but not enough toilet paper for a 7 night stay.

Overall it was of a nice standard and the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom really nice and large and comfy. However the lack of cleaning until you leave really lets the property down. I think it needs to be cleaned every 3 days.

I would recomend this place only for people staying 2-3 nights who need to self cater - otherwise get something closer to the river to be more central.
