Ideally located, staff charming and helpful, rooms spotless, the best apple pie my wife's ever tasted next door ! Can be noisy at night with late-night revellers, but that's the price you pay for such a central location

I am no stranger to Florence - I lived there for twelve years and know the city very well. Residence Hilda is located in one of the most central and safe areas of the city - two minutes' walk along Via dei Servi, and one arrives at the Duomo, in the heart of the historical centre. The Residence is splendid for its elegant, refined aesthetics and, most particularly, for the most helpful and discreet service offered. The apartments are of the highest quality in terms of aesthetics and comfort, their absolute cleanliness and the beautiful bright natural lighting which illuminates the rooms, even in gloomy January days! Bad back sufferers - seek no more - mattresses of highest quality, and lovers of fine bed linen shall not be disappointed! Bathrooms are absolutely beautiful - warm and luxurious - and kitchens of elegant and modern design comprising all necessary facilities. This is the ONLY place in Florence that I would recommend and I shall be most definitely returning - it is my "home away from home".

Residence Hilda perhaps sounds less glamorous than it actually is. You roll up to a beautiful doorway in the near-shadow of the Duomo and are welcomed by the uber-helpful staff who explain where you are and everything else in the city. We had our own kitchen as part of a suite and they even went shopping for some local tomatoes, asparagus cheese and an excellent bottle of wine so that we could cook when we arrived. The cleanest wine glasses you have ever seen by the way. it was beautfully done - minimalist yet homely, and a mini santa mysteriously appeared outside our door which was perplexingly touching. they also helped with arranging great, unusual non-touristy tours - a walking tour and a pizza-ccoking lesson. You felt, in no time at all, like a genuine resident of Florence. magic!

We had a two room suite on the top floor facing the street for 8 nights. Could have stayed forever - one room had a kitchen, dining and sitting area and the other was a bedroom with a king bed. Nice bathroom also. It was spotlessly clean, modern, roomy, comfortable and in a great location - walking distance to everything but not stuck in the crowds. Excellent staff/owners - very helpful with tickets and restaurants.
