“Everything is great!”
Reviewed December 23, 2011

Everything is great. The staff is very nice and helpful. The room is clean and big. The dining room is small but nice. The bathroom is clean and nice too. The only thing not so good is the location. It's not very near from the south view of the city, but not far either. And it's quiet because of this.

We stayed here only for one night last week - the guest house is a 5 minute walk away from the central train station and a 5-10 minute walk away from the centre of the city. The rooms are huge (we had a massive double bed and 2 singles) the bathroom is small (built in to the room as an add on) and there is a small kitchen which you can buy coffee and have breakfast (inc in the charge). The lady that was there to let us in etc is really lovely and so helpful, over all we had a good stay, would recommend for people who want to visit Florence on a budget and who want to be central.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front near the road were a bit noisy - but beds were so comfortable it didnt really mat...

This is a guest house at the center of the Florence, 5-10 min walk to the train station and 10-15 min walk to Duomo and other tourist sites. The guest house occupies half of a floor in an apartment building (it might have been a big apartment that got converted into a small guest house). There is only a small sign at the front of the building which is easy to miss. However, the building is easy to find by the street address.

The best about this guest house is its staff which was very friendly and helpful. We were really happy about them. Our room and common areas was tastefully decorated with small pictures. Free wi-fi was available. As in some other Italian B&B's, the breakfast consisted of pastries with jam/butter/Nutella. Since we are from North Europe, we would have preferred to have some non-sweet options (salami/ham/cheese/etc.) as well.

The biggest problem during our stay is that we got locked out of the building! The staff leaves at the evening and we were given a key from the front door to use while the staff is not there. But we could not open the front door with that key! We ended up calling one of apartments in the building and asking them to open the door for us.

Also, the bathroom was a bit strange. It looks like our room originally did not have a bathroom but then a bathroom was added in the corner of our room. There was a bit of smell from the shower sink in the bathroom (but it did not spread to the rest of the room).

The room was a bit dated and the paint was off in a few places. But the nice pictures and the decorations more than compensated for that.

Overall, we would have been happy with this hotel if not for the problem with opening the front door (and there could have been more choice for the breakfast).

We stayed for 3 days in August 2008 and Ridolfi suited us perfectly. This small B&B was easily reachable by foot from the main train station and a 5 minute walk into the centre of Florence. The room was very spacious and cool: a good escape from high summer in Italy. The room was clean and the shower in the room was handy. Breakfast was cereal and toast with hot and cold drinks which was plenty. It was a good base from which to explore florence and a great place to stay for a few days

Don't look for luxury here. Not such good value for single traveler like myself as you pay per room.Good location, but beware, they don't accept credit cards. You pay cash and not told until you are leaving.

Ridolfi is a great little place. We stayed there over the New Years holiday. It has a good location, walkable from the train station. Giampolo, the owner, was extremely nice and suggested some great restaurants for us, one of which we spent our New Years Eve dinner at. He's an interesting guy to talk to and makes you feel right at home (and was happy to show us where we can find breakfast food in case we got up too late or too early). The rooms were pretty clean, and the common bathrooms were clean enough too, but it's a very different experience from what you would find in a hotel. There are only a few rooms, hence, only a few travelers. Don't let the old building it's housed in fool you, the rooms are much nicer. My only warning is watch out for the showers...It has a mind of its own.

  • Liked — The warm service
  • Disliked — The showers unpredictable water temperture

Nice small B&B. The owner is very nice and willing to assist with booking reservations to Uffizzi and Accademia. About 10 minute walk from train station and requires one to walk up 3 flights of stairs. Breakfast is provided and if kitchen is full they will serve bring it to your room. Our room was large with high ceilings and bathroom across the hall. The house itself is quiet, but streets can be noisy with car traffic.
