“Time arrival before 1:00 PM and bring a compass”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

Our room did not overlook the Piazza Signoria, but we were happy it didn't because we were able to keep our window open and not be bothered by the noise. As a result, the view was non-existent. Access to the rooms required a walk up multiple flights of stairs. There is no one to help if you cannot make the climb with luggage. Upon arrival, we were frustrated by the absence of identification of the location. Proprietors from a restaurant next door called the B&B for assistance because the hotel is not staffed after 1:00 PM. We attempted to communicate with someone on an intercom but our Italian skills didn't measure up. The street numbers were very confusing. Residences are in black or blue and businesses are in red. When you see the number 3 on different buildings, side-by-side, it can be extremely confusing. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was oversized by European standards. Its entrance faced the common area of the B&B, but we did not notice excessive noise from conversation. We were given access to the Internet, and the front desk personnel obtained reservations for us at restaurants and local points of interest; however, they were only available until 1:00 PM. They also offered a recommended list of restaurants which we found to be spot on. When we wandered from their recommendation, we were disappointed. As a courtesy, we were able to leave our luggage after check-out while we completed our sight seeing. They offered a public restroom which allowed us to refresh before traveling elsewhere. I would definitely return.

Room Tip: A room in the back would be the most quiet.

We went to Florence recently and stayed at the Soggiorno Antica Torre. We had a fantastic time!
The accommodation was very clean, owners of the hotel were friendly and extremely helpful with assisting us with finding laundry mats and recommendations for restaurants.
Location of the hotel was so convenient as it was right in front of the Piazza Soggiorno, where it was walking distance to all the famous sites as well as restaurants and shopping!
Would highly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: We stayed in the Red rooms which was sufficient for us

This was our 2nd visit to Italy and just as on our 1st trip last year to Rome we appreciated the airy rooms with large windows in the older buildings letting in the fresh October air during our comfortable three night stay. Pamela and staff do anything they can to make for a pleasant stay. The hotel is centrally located and our room overlooked the Piazza Signoria. As in Rome you will want to close the windows when turning in for the night as the Piazza can get noisy. We were three weeks in Tuscany and one regret we have is not staying longer in Florence. After visiting the Uffizi and the Accademia Gallery you've really only had the surface of Florence. When planning our trip it turned out that Saturday nights were particularly hard to book so were only able to reserve only thru Friday. Thanks to Pamela and Costanza for a wonderful stay. Next time we'll plan a longer stay. Also to note: the restaurants located right on the Piazza are pretty good, not just for tourists.

Dear Guest,
thanks for amazing words you spent for us and the beautiful review. We are very happy when we leave a good impression on our guests and we can contribute to the success of your stay in Florence.
Thanks for the words about the staff, we try to be always warm and friendly with our guests to make them feel like part of the "family" and give them the chance to feel completely at ease. Of course we are always happy to help our guests to organize their stay.
The room where you stayed is the jewel in the crown, despite all our rooms are very spacious and individually decorated, because it is huge and richly decorated and can offer a beautiful view on the square.
Luckily, choosing our B&B, you can enjoy a very good position in the centre of the downtown and in one of the best square in the world.
We hope to see you again in our B&B for longer time, we would be happy to welcome you!

Best regards
The Staff

A charming hotel in central Florence. Location excellent and staff very friendly and welcoming. Would have been difficult to find without some 'local' help. Not given 5 stars in this review as though the rooms are charming they are now a little faded and truthfully it could do with a bit of paint and a spruce up.

Right in the heart of one of the most famous piazzas in Florence. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Stayed in the "ivory" room, furnished in lovely antiques and really comfortable beds. Some stairs to traverse, but it can be done (two 60 year old women got two giant suitcases up). Highly recommended.

The only good thing about this place is the location. If not for that they would be out of business. Quite honestly, although reviewers gush about the location central Florence is a small place and you don't really need to be right on the Piazza Della Signoria. You can literally walk from the Duomo, through the Piazza della Signoria, across the Ponte Vecchio, and into the Pitti Palace in about 15 minutes.

The noise is awful. It's not so much the crowds, although you do get the occasional drunk carrying on sometimes at night. The street cleaning trucks and delivery trucks seem to be active at all hours between midnight and dawn.

The WiFi was totally inadequate. They are aware of this and have never bothered to fix it. If you go back through the reviews you'll see people complaining about it in 2012.

You will get along well with the staff as long as you don't interrupt their routine. They are there during certain hours and that's it. They seem to want to leave early - before the stated 1 pm - and if you hold them up they get unpleasant. Unlike any other place I've ever stayed I had the distinct impression that we were there for them rather than the other way around.

If you want bragging rights that you stayed right in the heart of Florence at the Piazza Della Signoria, fine, but you can find much better accommodations nearby with far better level of service and amenities. Even if you stay on the other side of the river you can reach the Palazzo Vecchio in 10 minutes on foot.

Dear Sir,
I am so sorry your stay with us was not to your liking. We work hard to make our guests’ time with us comfortable and are disappointed when it doesn’t go well for them. Yes, we have had some trouble with the Wifi service and you were very kind to help me figure out the parameters. We have been working to improve service and in fact someone was here October 9th to upgrade reception. I am sorry this was a problem. Regarding traffic noise, Piazza Signoria is a pedestrian zone therefore trucks can only make deliveries during a brief time in the morning. There is no activity nor cleaning allowed during the night, so I am a bit confused by your comment. Please know that our staff takes great pleasure in helping our wonderful guests that come from all over the world – it is the best part of their work. They do their best to accommodate everyone, no matter what the time. I am sorry you did not feel this way.
All best,
Pamela Quercioli, Antica Torre

Stayed 2 nights in room 6 (no view) but great room nonetheless! Loved the location, literally in Piazza Signoria, just steps from markets, restaurants, gelato and the other great Piazza Republicca which has a great night life around 7-8pm. Life was very easy when we needed to duck back to room to drop off shopping (& have a quick nap haha). Probably the highlight was the location, closely followed by service from people. They are all great & very helpful; even print train tickets for you etc. They speak very good english and are genuinely lovely people (& funny!) The check in process is very easy, we did it after hours. Got buzzed in by owner and then found our room keys in the allocated door of our room, as per email instructions. We had no trouble finding the place, taxi knew where to go, plus confirmation voucher had a picture of the door entry. Free wifi in room was perfect and strong signal. Bathroom was huge in comparison to every other place we've stayed in europe! History behind the building is also interesting! For a reasonable cost you get breakfast in your room, very convenient; otherwise, plenty of places to choose from close by. This was our 2nd trip to Florence and we would recommend this place over any 5 star hotel because of the 'local living' feeling you experience, plus the helpful service you just don't get in big hotels. The only negative is the stairs to climb; BUT we experienced this with most of our hotels in Europe (we found receptions are on first floor, entries have stairs). This place had a lift anyway, so we used it only when we were really tired. Would definitely go back! Thoroughly enjoyed it!
