“a great stopover to see Florence!”
Reviewed August 24, 2014

They have an excellent free shuttle to and from the city centre. We really enjoyed the spa. It was the best we have ever seen. We used it every day! Staff were most helpful and the price offered great value for money. We would definitely stay again.

The shuttle service was infrequent. During peak hours (9.30 am and 8.45 pm), some people were left having to catch a cab as the bus was full. Very disappointing. Some had to bargain to remain on the bus and having to sit on the aisle as they wouldn't allow standing passengers.

The air conditioning was terrible. The indoor temperature equated the outdoor temperature.

Most hotels are now providing free wifi, but it's only within the lobby area in a large hotel franchise like Hilton.

I would only recommend it for business purposes. Probably not the best hotel for travelers on a holiday.

Had a mixed experience during recent stay.

Hotel inside is modern and rooms are quite nice. personally don't particularly like the glass sliding doors to the bathrooms - very asian hotel style - not very helpful if sharing with a friend.

Hotel position is not central (and nor do they pretend to be) you have to get the shuttle bus, which was fine. it's a shame it doesn't run more often really as there were some bigs gaps in the service at certain points in the day and then sometimes some people could not get on as it was full. Luckily we were always ok. A taxi back is less than 20euros so fine at the end of the night.

We were disappointed to be given a double room (despite clearly booking a twin), we were then moved to a non city view (disappointing when we'd seen the lovely view!) then on our last night we had a leak through a light fitting in our bathroom (not the hotels fault) but moving us was slow, disrupted our night and we were moved to a damaged room. They did apologise the next day but it did impact our stay and a bottle of wine or free drink or something would have been a nice gesture to lessen the impact on our night.

The executive lounge was also mixed. The afternoon tea was non existent when we went (you could see some people had had some but with 35mins let until the end of afternoon tea no food was replenished). Evening drinks were mixed some evenings the fridges were well stocked and there was a selection of snacks, other nights the fridges ran out and there were hardly any nibbles.

Would I visit again? Possibly not, it wasn't a bad stay and if I had a car I'd considerate it, otherwise it just wasn't quite special enough for me. But equally I wouldn't tell people not to stay here you could have a nice time.

Room Tip: city views are lovely

I am HH Diamond member and I had 2 stays at this hotel, both were for just one night, using 2 rooms which were prepaid. At both stay we experienced serious issues that were impacting negatively at our entire stay.

First night/stay: upon arrival at the hotel (13.20h), we encountered young lady at the front desk, who informed us immediately that our rooms were not yet ready and that we should come back in one hour. I politely pointed out that check in time is 2pm and that we will just sit there and wait for 40 minutes max. We had some five hours of driving behind us and were eager to get to at least one of our rooms. But OK, we are sitting in the lobby and other guests are also coming to check in, but ALL of them are getting room keys. I stopped counting at guest number six, and decided to again talk to young lady at the front desk. She claimed that rooms are still not ready (at this point it is 13.45h), and that it is up to the housekeeping who gets the room first and who must wait. I never heard of such nonsense ever before, as it was never before in Hilton hotels a problem relocating pre-assigned rooms is someone arrived a couple of minutes early. I asked to speak with the manager, but lady said that all management is in Milan. A minute after that some other Front desk employees arrived to process the check-in and we immediately got both rooms (there was no call from housekeeping in the mean time). I should also point out that at no point we were thanked for our loyalty to Hilton or in any other was recognized as Diamond members and that she was certainly not friendly (she was rolling her eyes, when I was speaking to her, for instance). Our rooms were 1414 and 1411, we were apparently upgraded (she said nothing, but 14th floor is executive floor), and we could use executive lounge (again, she said nothing, there was no welcoming letter or any other info about our perks as HH Diamonds, so we went up to 15th floor and informed ourselves in the executive lounge that evening spread is from 6pm to 9pm). Rooms were quite nice and clean, but there was a problem with the toilet seat (broken, making funny noises when seating on it) and plumbing (see pictures, as we took a shower water poured from the bathtub onto the floor, creating flooding both in toilet and in bathroom). Another thing, that was just shocking, was breakfast; I always like to eat rye bread, but it was moldy (!!). I actually took two pieces and both had mold on them… this was a first for me in any Hilton hotel anywhere… too bad that I did not take my iPhone to the breakfast to take the picture. I am sure that health supervisory institutions would be interested to see that one. Upon check out, again my luck run our and again young lady from the day before was working at front desk; this time I only got bill for one of the rooms (both rooms were pre-paid), so consequently I only got HH points for one of the rooms. Bummer.

Second night/stay: much better experience at check in, which was performed by head of the Front desk; efficient, quick, friendly and informative. So, it is possible after all. Again, were upgraded into executive floor, rooms 1309 and 1311. No toilet seat problems, no plumbing problems (bathtub had additional plastic installed that prevented water to pour to the floor – so, hotel IS aware of the problem!). Also breakfast without health concern issues. But, as my reservation was made for king bed rooms, one of the rooms had two smaller beds side-by-side to construct king bed… it was not comfortable, as in the middle there was big hole and as I am always having back-pain issues, not too enjoyable to sleep in this way… We also used free shuttle bus, that existed, but was not running on time, as we waited for a bus in front of the hotel for 10 minutes without any info if it will arrive at all. We also had fire alarm at 22.20h, apparently someone was smoking in the room, as front desk just said it was false alarm. At least executive lounge bartender was very nice and friendly, if evening spread was rather lacking variety.

All in all, disappointing stay at the hotel we were looking very forward to experience.

Room Tip: Hmm, tough one, as every room seems to have an issue or two... but rooms facing city center are at l...

Could not ask more from a foreign Hotel experience. The city view from our room, also matched from the executive lounge, was breathtaking. I could not ask more from their staff, but the service received from Gabriel, the Executive Lounge host was extraordinary. The Shuttle Service was also right on.

It´s an average Hilton hotel offering standard services of this hotel chain which usually don´t disappoint. Neither this Hilton will disappoint you, it´s pretty good - the rooms are nice, clean and also very lightful thanks to their big windows. Also the breakfast room is fine, as well as the breakfast itself. However I was missing something extra, something extraordinary which would convince me.
Speaking about the deficiencies, of course, the first is the location, however you must know about it before, so if it´s a problem for you, do not chose this hotel. What I found pretty disturbing in the hotel were the elevators - there are four, but they function in a strange way that you always wait a long time, maybe I had only a bad luck, but I really waited always a lot. The shuttle bus is fine, what I did like is that when it was full, the hotel paid the taxi for those who couldn´t enter any more. Nevetheless, the shuttle should be more frequent and especially there should be added some shuttle in the morning.

Room Tip: I chose a hotel room which should have a Duomo view. It had, but being positioned on a low floor, I...

Stayed in this hotel for several nights while we travelled between Pisa and Florence doing some sight seeing. Hotel is modern and has good facilities. The lounge had great views over the city and the downstairs pool - while small - was well laid out. Staff were particularly helpful and overall we enjoyed our stay
