Found by chance, this is an amazing hidden jewel. The locanda is optimally located near all major landmarks but still in a part of town not overcrowded by tourists. I had a clear sense of living as the Florentine people do. Owner Alessio epitomizes Italian hospitality. He is the most charming and helpful host ever! Rooms are spacious, stylishly furnished and having spent 2 weeks there, I felt like going back home every night. Wifi works great, and I was able to work, stream files and FaceTime back home. Needless to say, I recommend this affordable, small, very charming establishment without any hesitation. If I went back to Florence, I would not need to look any further. Best.place.ever.

My fiancé and I recently returned from a two week trip to Italy. We visited and stayed in numerous cities & towns from Northern to Southern Italy. Of all the hotels, rooms and B&B accommodations we had (we did not have a bad one), we both agreed that our favorite was the three night stay at Locanda de’ Ciompi in Florence. A small and quiet 5 room B&B, our room was very charming, clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and centrally located near the Duomo; making all of Florence’s great sites (e.g. Galleria dell’ Accademia, Galleria degli Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, etc.) within easy walking distance. Owner Alessio was tremendously hospitable and helpful not only during our stay, but afterwards. When a package we mailed home to the U.S. from Florence took longer to arrive than we thought it should, we contacted him for help. He went above and beyond by going to the nearby Post Office with our package tracking number to get information and check into the status of our package. That is first class service in my book! Thank you Alessio! We highly recommend Locanda de’ Ciompi for your stay in Florence; as we would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I have returned from a lovely 10 days in Florence. Locanda de' Ciompi was the perfect location to have a "real" stay in Italy. This B&B has a great location within a working neighborhood that allows you a glimpse at the Italian life. Allessio was a pleasure to work with from the initial email contact we had through his help in getting a cab to the airport upon our return. The space is clean, simple, spacious and very reasonable. We so enjoyed our room above the street as we were able to be a part of the coming and going of the locals while having the necessary peace and quiet when it came time to sleep (due to double insulated windows). The room was serviced every day and Allessio was of great help with recommendations (where to get a leather belt that Italians really wear) to directions for multiple locations. The B&B is within easy access to markets, multiple town squares, restaurants, grocery, wine bars and even a craft store. The area is safe and delightful. It is not a fancy place but certainly one that you feel at home and it will be one we will definitely return to.

Room Tip: We loved the front rooms above the street as we could open the windows for fresh air and great view...

This charming B&B was just the crowning jewel on my trip. It was so easy to find and was in a real "neighborhood" that was relaxed and genuine. How nice to go out in the evening (or early morning) and see local Florentines going about their daily lives. We enjoyed the breakfast bar down the street so much that we had dinner there several nights ( ask for Thomas ! -- he is so friendly and efficient). Great little flea market/antique market across the street and a full food market two blocks away. And.........do NOT miss the gelateria right next door to the Locanda ! Theirs is the best I have found... and I sample a LOT of gelato! Try the pistachio, especially.

Allesio was a charming owner/host and we had several very nice conversations. Our room was always clean and complete. We stayed in room #5, at the back of the property. We had to keep the window closed at all times because of noise in the courtyard by the neighbors and also because mosquitoes were eating us alive. That would be my only complaint and is not the fault of the property.

Great little 24 hr drink and snack dispense area across the street too.... Coffee for 1/2 Euro ! Sodas and water for less than 1 Euro. Unheard of given you will pay 2 Euro for coffee and 4 Euro for a soda elsewhere. Give it a try.

My husband and I just had the pleasure of staying here for our honeymoon in Florence. From the start, we had a great experience. The new Manager, Alessio is friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to service some of special requests. We loved our room and especially the super dark shades which let us sleep in. Our room did not come with a view but we were not complaining since a view likely means street noise too and we had none of that. The breakfast half of the room was great too! Alessio has a deal with a local cafe and we enjoyed eating breakfast on the street and people watching. The B&B is a close walk to all things Florence. Overall, a wonderful choice!

A no brainer! If you're looking for a place to stay in Florence and there's a room available for you, don't waste time. The room was beautiful, incredibly well maintained, and we were a 5 minute walk to the Duomo. Even better, the service was perfect. We arrived and Alessio's daughter helped us check-in and answered all of my questions on where to eat and what to see. She was super sweet! Alessio was incredibly nice and super helpful on our last day in Florence. If we go back to Florence, we're definitely sticking to this place.

Room Tip: We got a double, but the beds were separated (my mistake). Make sure to ask for a joined double.

We loved staying here! We booked a double room last minute during high season and couldn't believe our luck when we arrived. For a start, the location is perfect. Literally 5 minutes from Piazza San Giovanni (where the Cathedral is located) but in a relatively quiet part of town. Alessio greeted us on arrival and showed us to our room. We couldn't have asked for more - it was spacious, clean, comfortable with a huge bathroom and shower, AC. One of those rooms that you're quite excited to return to after a long day exploring Florence. Above all, Alessio was really charming and Locanda has a good feeling about it. We paid 85 euros for a double room Grazie Alessio.
Ci vediamo!
