“A great place from which to view Florence”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

The owner hostess is warm and personable. The breakfast is in a beautiful location, and the breakfast is good way to start the day (reasonable). The rooms and property are charming and quite large. You will have plenty of space. Moreover, the location could not be better-you are in easy walking distance of every major attraction. Thus, you are 10 minutes from the Doumo, or Uffizi, 15 minutes from the river, 10 minutes for the outdoor market and other famous squares. This a very good value. The only caution we wish to mention stem from the nature of location and the building (a concern that probably applies to other B&Bs in the area as well) is that there is no view, since streets are narrow- you look at another building's wall, and consequently no natural light filters into your room. Thus, if you require natural light or a well lit room you will be disappointed. The size of the room is great, but more light would be appreciated. Even if not natural, perhaps standing lamps with more voltage would cheer things up and make it easier to read.

We are very happy for your good stay in our house.
It 's the first time that a customer complains about this and we will listen your advice. Unfortunately, in the ancient streets of historic center of Florence is hard to find rooms very bright, because the windows face always in front of other nearby houses.
We wait for you a next time in Florence.

Graziella is an amazing host. She is warm and inviting, giving my sister and I advice on everything from dinner to trains to museums. Panella's is incredible. It is safe, quiet and the rooms are huge! After coming from Rome with our closet of a hotel room, it was nice to be in a place with vaulted ceilings, a renovated modern bathroom, tv, a/c and a ton of space. The breakfast provided is more than enough including some homemade goodies from Graziella. It is a five minute walk to the Dumo, the Accademia and other major cites. This was by far the best place I've stayed in all of Europe (and I've been to almost every country in Europe). You have to stay at Panella's! You will be well taken care of (and there's a discount for paying in cash). Thank you Graziella for all that you did for my sister and I! You made Florence a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Room 42 is the quietest!

The best service experience I have ever had at a hotel. Panella Residence was in the perfect location, within walking distance to everything. Graziella's restaurant recommendations were spot on every time for lunch and dinner. Great history at the Residence, authentic Florence-style atmosphere, and exceptional service. I will definitely be coming back.

Graziella the owner is the perfect hostess. From the moment you walk in she greets you with a wondeful smile and the enthusiasm of a family member welcoming home a long lost relative. She is very helpful with every detail of your stay in Florence. Our room (#44) was absolutley beautiful! It was like having a little apt without the hassle of having a kitchen.
The breakfasts are lovely- many home made items ( she is a wondeful baker) and freshly made good coffee. Graziella even made breakfast for us early one day so that we could make our wine tour on time.
The B and B (originally a convent then her family home for many generations) is a short walk to everything. Her archetect husband designed a lovely B and B while keeping the charm of the convent throughout. The Wi-FI is very good ( not like some places we have been ) the bathroom LARGE and beautiful, the AC quiet and nice and cold. There are lots of stairs to climb, so if you have trouble with stairs this would not be a good place for you, but if you are fine with stairs you will enjoy everything about the Panella's Residence.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor in a double and it is just lovely and very quiet.

The folks at Panella Residence could not be more welcoming. They made you feel at home and provided a lot of local information. This home/residence has been in the family for six generations. It is in an excellent location within easy walking distance of the Florence attractions. There are many nearby eateries and shops. It is not a bad walk (and 3/4 mile) from the main Florence train station. They serve an excellent breakfast. We had a very large room with what must have been a 20 foot high ceiling (second floor front). There were two big windows that opened out onto Via Della Pergola. The only downside side was that this is a fairly busy street, especially with ambulances (sirens wailing) going to the nearby hospital. Also there seem to be quite a few students in the area who can get a bit noisy at night. Our white noise machine was a big help in blocking the street sounds. Overall a great place to stay.

Room Tip: A quieter room may be one that does not face the street.

We stayed four nights in late May. This is an ideal location that is minutes from all the major sights. Proprietor’s Graziella and Joseph were delightful and helpful. Graziella gave us an area map, marked our location, key sights, a great lunch spot, coin laundry facility, etc. Later on when we asked about certain restaurants, she showed us their location and made reservations for us. Her suggested restaurants turned out to be our best dining experiences. We should have just asked her were to eat. Our room was a Double Deluxe, large, high ceilings, clean, comfortable but a bit dimly lit for reading with my old eyes. The bathroom area was exceptionally nice. The Tripadvisor pictures accurately reflect Panella’s B&B.

We will recommend Panella’s to our friends and, when we return to Florence, we’ll stay there again. Our room was on the street side of Panella’s and kind of noisy during the night so stay in one of the interior rooms. The thick walls make the WiFi spotty but with patience it works. The tiny bar of guest soap is a distraction from the Panella’s experience and we recommend a quick trip to the Officina Profuma-Farmaceutica, Via della Scala 16, for a great bar of soap that well match the rest of the Panella’s quality.

Dearest,
thank you very much for your beautiful compliments.
I am sorry that wi-fi is not constant in the reception.
We are installing new transmitters interiors for a better and continuous transmission, even with multiple computers connected.
When you return to us it will work much better.

Staying at Panella Residence for 3 nights was a real treat for us The enthusiastic and always helpful Graziella offered restaraunt suggestions and booked reservations for us. But the real feature of this B&B is the great accesst to all the sights in Florence with all of them no more than a 15 min and LEVEL walk away. What a treat after all the hills, steps, lenghtly walks, or crowded busses involved during the rest of our 3 week stay in northern Italy.
Our top floor room was spacious and superbly decorated in old world charm as was the whole establishment, which I hear was once a convent in the distant past. Plus the room's off-street location ensured a quiet night. Breakfast was served in the downstairs former horse stable. But not to worry, the hay and the horses have been long since removed and you are left with a very cozy and charming area.
To see Florence you don't want the effort of getting to Florence daily on some bus from outlaying areas. Staying at Panell residence removes that effort.
