“Great Price and Location for your stay in Florence”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2009

We stayed in Giada Hotel early May. At first, finding the Hotel was difficult because a market is installed along the street with a lot of people and stores hanging around; however we find later that it's location was excellent since everything worthseeing was close. A convenient store (for buying water) is at the corner of the street which is of great value. The only thing that scared us a little bit is that at nights there are a lot of african immigrants hanging around trying to sell you bags and watches (which are fake by the way). However we have to say that it was always safe but precautions are important to take. Also we want to advice our fellow travelers that all museum entrances in Florence are cash only (they don´t accept any credit card which is really bad) and they charged you almost for everything (even if the site/place is not worthseeing). We careful when planning what you want to see. Try to go to see the David around 4 or 5 pm since almost all the tour groups are gone. Finally, we found a little bit weird the breakfast service. Since it is a small place there are not enough tables for all the guests, so you must book your slot before hand. Hope this helps.

My daughter & I stayed here in October 2008, it was a bit hard to find & then to get into., The staff on the morning shift ,owners I think, had no idea of customer service- felt like we were imposing on their time - especially the man at breakfast - rude, but the lady on the afternoons was really nice & very helpful. Rooms were clean, but old & basic, loved the airconditioner ,as it was warm for that time of the year, bathroom was TINY but ok for the couple of days we were there, beds a bit hard but ok, BUT the noise from the market was really bad , the packing up not so bad, but the setting up in the morning from about 4.30 - 5.00am was bad & made sleep almost impossible. When we booked we asked for a room at the back & single beds, we got a side room towards the front & a queen bed. The breakfasts were slim pickings & even though there was a coffee machine, the man on duty made it very clear there was going to be none made, saw an elderly gentleman trying to get his attention one morning & he was just ignored, we went elsewhere to eat - easier. The area outside the hotel was a bit scary at times as young men hang around the entrance , for 2 females I felt unsafe .. Area beyond the hotel - great, good restaruants, internet cafes & the market is fantastic, prepare yourself for great shopping in leather - bags a plenty. And most of the stall holders are really friendly & all speak great English. You have to try the Gelati - to die for - Loved Florence its the most beautiful city lots to see & so easy to walk - want to go back for another visit but would not stay at this hotel again

stayed at hotel giada for 3 nights in november. great find in florence. been to flo 6 times this year, each time we try a new hotel. loved the giada. no noise from the market at all. room huge. 4 of us girls shared a 5 bed room. lovley clean bathroom.soft fluffy towels. heated towel rail. beds and bed linen excellent. pillows just right. lovley carpet throughout. cant see what ther is to complain about. stayed in a 4 star near the duomo in sept. not a patch on giada. so the enterence isnt grand, but the rooms make up for it. breakfast good, although we only made one morning. going back to flo in jan and will be staying at the giada. bye the way 6th jan is a lovley day in flo, all sorts happening, its a special day over there, magical. also on the 7th all the shops go in to sale. forgot to say you are very safe in the market area, dont take any notice of people saying its dodgy. were all about 50 and didnt get in until 3 some mornings.

This hotel was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The light in the bathroom didnt work and when we informed the front desk they did nothing, so we had no light for the whole stay. i would go as far as to say they ruined our trip. They sat us at a dirty table in an almost empty breakfast room and when my boyfriend moved the dirty cups the waiter (if you could call him that) swore at him.... We ended up walking out. We had to stay an extra night because we couldnt get anything else and they tried to charge us 100euros for the night even though i told them we were already staying there- so i got my sister to book it online and we got it for 58 euros. then they said we sould have told them we were staying there These were the most vile people I have ever met.

The hotel itself was very very basic, we had read a review on here that said they were surprised it was a 2 star - we were also surprised, i wouldnt even give it 1 star. it was in a great location - but you couldnt pay me to stay there again.

The hotel Giada is a little tricky to find simply because it has a small entrance and there is so many hotels in the back streets around the Medici palace. At night the area it is in is a little suspect, but having said that we never encountered any problems on our few days there.
However, out front of the hotel is the home to the large Florence market, which means that through the night you can hear the market traders wheeling their stalls down the side streets. You wouldn't think this enough to wake you, but we were forced to move rooms because we couldn't sleep with the racket.
Our original room was spacious and ornate and very clean. The room we moved to was much more cramped and modern, but at least we found a good nights sleep.
The breakfast was very nice, with fresh food, but because its only a small hotel then there isn't much space in the breakfast room, and you have to get down there early. Breakfast was from 7am-10am and anybody who got there after 9.30am were lucky to get any food. At times the staff would be helpful, but at other times we felt like an inconvenience, mainl depended upon mood and which family member you happened to run into.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Giada in Florence for 4 nights from 10/8/08 – 10/12/08. To sum it up… we got what we paid for. We bought our stay through hotels.com for $123 a night with all fees and taxes. That’s a cheaper hotel in Florence. Be careful most hotels don’t have a private bathroom. Our room did have a private bathroom.

What we liked:
•FREE Internet on the 3rd floor from approx. 10am – 11am
•Breakfast included in price (no fruit though)
•Large room for Europe
•Real hairdryer.
•Friendly/Helpful receptionist that spoke pretty good English.
•Extra pillows and blankets in the cabinet
•Close to Duomo and Piazza Della Signoria
•Hotel doors never lock. You can get in with your key at anytime.
•Has a lift
•Can use the microwave if need

What we didn’t like:
•Incredibly NOISY. The windows were single paned and kept no sound or cool air out. The hotel is located on the street of the Lorenzo Market so there is tons of noise starting at 4:00am in the morning when they roll out the stations to 2:00am in the morning when everyone finally goes home from hanging out. I think the rooms on the South & East sides of the hotel are the noisiest.
•Dirty tile floors and God knows what else.
•Never changed our sheets or towels
•Uncomfortable hard beds.
•TV was old and didn’t always work. Only English channel was MTV
•Inside an Old building
•Very small stall shower
•Not a pretty area
•Reception was only open from 11am – 7pm
•No soap dish, shelf or towel rack in the bathroom
•Could smell people smoking in other parts of the hotel

  • Liked — The Lift
  • Disliked — The NOISE

Hello, (Ciao)
we stayed at the Hotel Giada for three days in June and it's in a great location, close to the train station (Santa Maria Novella), definitely within walking distance, across the street from San Lorenzo church (listen for the church bells.....great sound), and walking distance to Accademia, Ufittzi, Duomo and more....OK, OK, so the front desk people did not seem to want to be my best friend, but they were helpful and have free internet access....we stayed in a family quad room with bathroom right off the kitchen area....breakfast is rolls, juice, cheese salami, yogurt and fruit...good to get you going in the morning.....the room was air conditioned, and with the windows shut we never heard the street noise....street market is right out front and around the corner.....and as a side trip we hired a driver to take us to San Gimignano (about an hour away)...I don't think you could ask for a better location.
